I gave this crazy way to fish a go. Years ago I used to slide my baits a lot, but since I started to use spinning reels and braided line, I neglected this technique. I decided to put some mono on top of my braid and then to slide my live bait out to target a big Mulloway or as they are called in South Africa kob or kabeljou! The very first slide bait that I sent out I hooked into a Giant mulloway! slide baiting definitely works great to target these big fish!

What a monster!! Interesting how you were talking about fishing on or around the sand bank for cob. Here in Australia people are usually told to fish in the deep holes and gutters for kob

I personally attach the sinker to the sliding wit swivel with an elastic band . Yes i know environment etc Syop driving your car then, but with big fish i like the idea that with a circle and violent head shakes , enough pressure and its just my ability to keep pressure directly to the hook, the elastic band breaks off ... I practice C&R FTR ... Great advice ..Australian fish are smaller , but better looking :) Much respect

Thanks man, yeah I love those things! Yes it does matter the trace should be about 1m long if its too long you battle to get it down and if it short it tangles with the mainline I found that about 1m works perfectly

Might be a plan to get a spare spool for our grinder setups and spool it with braid backing and say 150m of mono. That way you can just keep it in your bag and if the conditions need you to slide a big bait, it's as easy as swapping spools. Definitely easier than carry a second heavy sliding setup if you're not sure you're going to use it. Cheaper than buying a second grinder too lol.

Very nice wow big size kob 👍 ,so after you casting the bait sliding live or normal dead fresh bait anyway the question is when you put the fishing rod in the rid stand and waiting for kob so how much the drag should be loose? And if the drag tight more so the kob will feel the tension on the line when he start eat the bait so kob will leave and stop eating the bait ? I don't have much experience with kob fishing on surf fishing so I need some advice thank you 🙂👍
