Good evening Jim. I recently switched trucks. Before whenever I used to slide my trailer tandems back it would push weight forward onto my drives and steer axle. Now on this new truck when I do the same thing a weird thing happens. It puts more weight on my drives and takes weight off of my steer axle. Is this because the weight on the drives lifts the front end up taking weight off of the steer axle? I've only done 3 loads in this truck and my steer axle has been over 12,000 for 2 loads now. I don't understand why. Today's load was only around 29,000 lbs and my steers were 12,100 and I was lighter in the nose and heavier in the back of the trailer. I moved the trailer tandems back about 10 holes and the steers came down to 12,000. I have my 5th wheel all the way back. I don't like this truck. I used to have scaling down to a science but now I'm confused. Do I have my 5th wheel in the proper position?

If you don’t have it in your list, you should do a video about high hooking. Just throwing out an idea.

When you refer to the hole that you put the pins in, I'll assume you're referring to the first set of pins correct? Because there's two pins on each side.

Great info question if trailer is 500 pounds over like you said do I slide the tandems back 2 holes and pin be in that 2nd hole or do I need to clear 2 holes with pin in 3rd hole? thanks in advance!

Let's say you are well below the legal limit and that's not an issue. Is it necessary to distribute the weight evenly between the drives and tandems for safety, handling etc??? Is it dangerous to be heavier/lighter on your drives or tandems?? What if CAT scale reads something like 11,500 - 22,000 - 30,000.
