Sliding Truck Bed Tool Box, Never Seen Before! DIY Pt. 2

- A real tool box that slides back and forth under tonneau cover on roller bearings.
Build Materials: (Some are affiliate Links)
- 1" Steel tubing 1/8" thick - amzn.to/3WNHSee (I used 4 - 8ft sections)
- Angle Iron 1 1/4 also 1/8 Thick - amzn.to/3hw850T (I used 12' )
- 2" Flat steel plate
- Wellgo 608-2RS Ball Bearings - amzn.to/3tjZH7a (2 packages of 10, for a total of 20)
- Craftsman Magnetic Power Outlet Strip with USB - amzn.to/3DS8L8l
- DEKOPRO Welder - amzn.to/3tidwTN (Best Purchase I have made, awesome welder)
- 1" bolts 5/16 (10)
- 5/16 washers and nuts (10)
- Bolts for latches 5/16 x 5" (2) you can always cut them down
- 12" x 1/2 PVC to hold push/pull rod
- 1/2 conduit to make rod

should check out the doyle 6 in hitch vise @ harbour frieght its a great option for a more heavy duty vise.

yea very expensive and leaves very little room between the cover and the top. Glad you liked it.

I had the decked one, I sold it because it took all the space of the bed and I couldn't fit anything that was over 8 inches high.

How’d you run the power to the box with it moving back and forward?

I put a wire tie at the mid point of the power wire and the mid point of the side of the truck bed and it just works. sometimes better to be lucky lol

Hi, what’s the measurements on your tool box? I’m really wanting to create a set up a lot like yours, I love your set-up. Differences I’m up against is that my tonneau cover is flush with bed sides and hangs down a bit lower.

Thanks, my box is 21Hx18Dx41W I would recommend you measure the space under your cover and subtract 2 inches for the rail system and that is how high you can go.
