Slieve Donard

Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland and the wider province of Ulster, with a height of 850 metres. The highest of the Mourne Mountains, it is near the town of Newcastle on the eastern coast of County Down, overlooking the Irish Sea.This was a tough hike, covering different terrains.the views are spectacular and well worth the effort, this video will guide you through the whole process.

Hi Paul. I hiked the Mournes this morning and climbed Donard, but absolutely nothing to see from the top, it was so cloudy and foggy at the summit the visibility was zero.My hope was to do both Donard and Commedagh once I got to the wall but we had a weather warning for today and even at this early stage of the morning the fog was just so thick that I came straight down from Donard and got back to Donard Park before the real bad weather hit. The views on the way up and on the way down were spectacular. I started out at 6am and altogether I was hiking for about 5 and a half hours. Thank you again for this video.

Paul thank you so much for uploading this, I will be hiking the Mournes in August and I've watched this video a couple of times already, and no doubt I'll be watching and studying it even more in the coming weeks. Very well done to you all by the way

Thanks jason a struggle at the end but worth it, plenty of water and breaks, it dosent matter how long it takes ,as long as you get their, enjoy it and remember to sit down and enjoy the beauty of the mourns, to many people these days trying to beat times and dont see the beauty thats around them.let me know how you get on.👍

@@walkthewalkswithpaul8096 You're absolutely right Paul, it's always best to do it at a comfortable pace and take in all of the surroundings..... people do try to go fast sometimes but if you try to break records you'll only end up breaking bones instead. I'll be setting out at 7am just to give myself plenty of time

just back from doing Slieve Donard, tough walk and we made it all the way to the top, approx 5hr round trip with a 15min break due to heavy rain
