@@twiliger I think it tells us what we always knew. He loved her always! What a lucky woman she was to have been married to such a wonderful man and have such a beautiful son and daughter. She must have been a great person!

Thank you for this beautiful post. Reading about Jerry's funeral was really heartbreaking and listening to When you were sweet sixteen at the same time. It was just pure love between them. Thanks.

Finally somebody noticed. THANK YOU. It can get frustrating when you put in so much work to make something special and nobody even seems to notice or care. I'm working at the moment on a Byron 5 Gems Video. This one I will pass by him before I post it.

@@twiligerI can only imagine the hard work that you've done for Slim and Byron down through the years and you'll still putting in a lot of time and effort with these wonderful videos. I must say this video really got to me as I said about Jerry's funeral and listening to that song at the same time. Can't wait for the Byron videos.👍 Have you seen a new video that's been posted with slim and Byron singing it's a small world ?. It's from the crook and chase tv show in the early 90s I believe. Thanks.

Wonderful to listen to yet another fine collection of Slim Whitman Classics! I always look forward to your selection of songs because I don't know what's going to play next! Normally, with any of Slim's albums, after playing them many times, you automatically know what song, comes next. Thanks, Loren, as always!

@@twiliger : Very moving, indeed. I would have been in tears. Mind you, I would have been shocked too. We in Britain ( as far as I'm aware) are not used to seeing anyone in an open coffin, in a public place & personally, I'm glad about that. 😀

It's strange that Slim seems more revered in other parts of the world than the States. His choice of material throughout his career has been exemplary, but often not reflected in chart positions in that he has never had a #1 country hit and only 'Indian Love Call' reached the top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100. Yet, along with Cash, Robbins, Reeves, Campbell and Don Williams he is in the top echelons of favourite American artists of all time in UK and Europe.

You have hit on what a handful of us around the globe have discussed very often. I have been told point blank by a Nashville Executive that Slim was only popular in the bible belt. Also, he had no younger country artists sighting him as an influence. His music was too sweet and he wouldn't knuckle under and record what they wanted him to. When Country Music Magazine selected the top 100 Country Artist, they left Slim off the list. Even though he had the number one marketed TV sales LP off all time. Yet the Pointer Sisters (R&B singers) and a puppet (Shot Gun Red) made the list. I got so mad many times.

I just wish now, that the unissued tracks from the 'Twilight on the Trail' album (2009) & The Love Songs album, which was recorded towards the end of 2010, will be issued one day. All exist & confirmed by Slim & Byron in the last interview on Radio Uckfield, with Paul Hazel.
