jungle and arguably support (only in higher elo where supports can roam without adc inting) teaches macro play. adc and mid teaches mechanics and top is a desolate wasteland, just a lonely island where two players sit the entire game with no connection to the outside world.

Nah, Top teaches you wave macro a lot. It teaches you when to swap lanes and pressure the enemy team. Like if your team is fighting Baron or dragon, a good top player would aim to split the enemy team by split-pushing. A good top player would also disrupt the enemy jungler by messing with their camps.
