Great video as usual! I honestly like my official tracker extensions, I just hope the newer cables are in-fact better... My v1 cables lasted about 6 months or so. For the straps, I ended up 3D printing some strap hooks to make it easier to get on and off since I hated the velcro. The straps also just don't quite work for some people's bodies, so there's definitely a lot of improvement needed in general for them. There's some really neat development being done to improve Slimes in the future, so hopefully some of those issues can be fixed in later versions.

Are there currently any Slime based trackers that make use of the magnetometer? I didn't know the firmware supported it

🤔 What I wonder about full trackers in bulk is that they can be spotty as they add up on a router's load from a couple of runs I've had and comments from the SlimeVR Discord. However, I can agree that not having to deal with AUX's a plus and in general, should probably be free when buying trackers based on something like BMI160s. Always had strange results if I went through the 10 tracker threshold while using my GT-AX6K for my Quest 2 and Slime setup. Would need to maybe run an extra router that's dedicated to Slime's to have the full picture or see if it does anything. At least if it does it means something like an AX55's a very small investment for more comfort.
@JacobfovАй бұрын
I've personally never had an issue with it, but I do have the davolink minion 6e router which is surprisingly really competent for what it is. Running a second router just for Slimes is certainly an interesting idea though. You'd probably want the main router to be a 6e and the Slime router to just be a 2.4ghz network so you don't have overlapping channels. That being said I do believe Somatic is working on the ability to have the trackers connect with bluetooth, I just wonder how that will affect the latency. Right now the Slime server is saying I get around 1-5ms of latency which is pretty damn good.

I have a Pico headset and the Pico trackers are coming out soon for £80/€90 which is a steal and they seem to perform similar to slime's but with estimation tech for the other body points. I might get a third for my hips as apparently that's possible too.

Will definitely look into this for sure, been using Official slimes and DIY ones for a while now. I broke one of my official ones a while back and the DIY trackers I made I used the cheapest possible boards for them so they desync very quickly. The magnetic charging to the top is pretty neat, but buying 2 4-way USB-C splitters from aliexpress is a total of 3$. This probably is very expensive add-on for the end price. Also the price for these is criminal. 10 trackers from other slimevr sellers, with LSM or similar-performing chips comes to around 300$ for 10 slimes(e.g. gorbit), 5+3 extensions on occult, compared to 5. (if anyone reads this in 6 months-1 year it will be so outdated) Of course, most people just use 6 most of the time because you don't need elbows unless dancing, and having some on feet just hurts. The straps however are fantastic, I really want those for my own. Magnet-attaching too? Absolutely awesome. Note receiving it for free is being sponsored with owning the product, that's how it gets treated in any other industry, since you don't return it.
@JacobfovАй бұрын
I think it's a little weird that you mention LSMs and then talk about two trackers using BMI270s (At least that's what both of their listings on the marketplace say). I personally don't know too much about LSM's but I've been told they're comparable to BNO085s, whereas BMI270s aren't. I've also heard that LSMs are still experimental so there's that. Really though the main difference to me is the fact that Eros doesn't use a 3D printed case. I will say Occult in specific seems to have a very high print quality, but even the highest quality 3D print can't match the quality of an injection molded part. The tradeoff is injection molding has a high startup cost, which is where I assume most of Eros's higher price per tracker comes from. SlimeVR has the advantage of producing trackers at a much larger scale than anyone else, so that price ends up evening out in the long run. And while I think 3D printing is great, I personally would never spend over 100 dollars on something that's 3D printed. It really just comes down to personal preference. Same with the charging cable situation. A lot of people prefer not to have 3000 different things plugged in on their desk/side table/wherever. Why else would anyone buy something like Mocopi or Axis over any type of Slime tracker other than for convenience and higher build quality. Really I think it's probably better to compare Eros to those two products, especially Axis. Eros has a motor inside of them, and in the future plan to support haptic feedback like Axis does. I just didn't mention that in this video since it isn't a feature yet. In 6+ months Eros will have another revision out. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up using LSMs in a future revision if they prove to be better, but right now there isn't really a ton of data about them. They aren't even listed on the IMU comparison in Slime's docs. Really the great thing about SlimeVR trackers is the amount of options to choose from, and as long as you aren't buying the shitters advertized in VRChat worlds there's really no wrong or bad choice. And for that last part, yeah, that's why the video is marked as a paid promotion and a disclaimer pops up when you start the video. I will say though, there's definitely a difference between being paid to show something off and being sent something to honestly review it. The former usually force you to use an approved script while the latter does not.

Based on my friend, the slime vr need severe updates to their software, because it's basically non-working. Constant issues with ghost trackers existing (meaning, all his trackers aren't enabled, but the software insists that everything is), not being able to do partial body and being forced to do full body, etc. It was really just a pain and I don't think he got it working in the end.
@JacobfovАй бұрын
I don't think I quite understand the problem? How is it an issue that full body trackers are making you do full body tracking? Certain trackers have to be enabled for the skeleton model to function. Ghost trackers used to be a problem, but as far as I know those have been fixed both in firmware and software for well over a year now. What kind of trackers was your friend using? Official slimes or something else?
@zeke7100Ай бұрын
@@Jacobfov What I mean is that, lets say you don't want to setup 7 point tracking and just want 3 point. Well, the software doesnt like that and insists that 7 point is the only option and even shows that there is 7 trackers operating despite only 3 being on.
