I love the sense of humor you have in your product videos. This is the best one yet. I got one of your Splitwing tarps last year and am super happy with it, so I’m not really in the market for a flat tarp right now, but if I was this would probably be it. I really am impressed at the way your fabric sheds water.

Love this! I'm in the market now for a new tarp and bivy. Just moved away from DCF as it's too bloody hot in the sun. Two questions for you: 1.) How effective is the NFT at creating shade and UPF resistance? Basically I want to be able to hang out under it when the sun's out, not get a sunburn and stay cool. Why go with nylon in stead of poly? From reviewing many of your articles, I would have assumed that you would have gone with Poly for UV resistance as well as much less stretch of material when it's raining out.

I shaded under the NFT all this past weekend! It does a great job. It's less transparent than DCF so will probably stay a bit cooler. As for nylon vs. poly, we haven't found a poly that we like. So far in our UV testing, polyester actually has performed much worse than nylon, despite the prevailing wisdom that it's better. Turns out we're the only ones actually testing these claims. Also, polyester has much lower tear strength, and tends to handle point loading (a big issue in flat tarps) worse than nylon because it doesn't stretch as much. You can check out my article on our UV testing here: www.slingfin.com/blogs/the-beta/uv-and-u-tent-fabrics-and-sun-damage

Will this work with an 11' hammock?
@SlingFin1 Жыл бұрын
The tarp is 10' long so you'd probably have about 6" of hammock sticking out on each end.

@@SlingFin1 Which means that you'll probably end up introducing a version with a diagonal ridgeline for hammockers, eh? 😆

should be quite doable using a diamond hang off a ridge line 😊
