The more I watch this the more I like it very smart features my question is why I never heard of this tent before

william cleveland yeah it looks a lot better than Hubba msr
@Bikepacking4 жыл бұрын
I think only one thing it need looks like they really spent time on the design wel done but the tent bag I don’t think they put any thought into that they should design it like msr bags or even big Agnes bag bikepacker tent bag then it would be perfect

william cleveland you should do even back garden review to see what it like

I just asked the same question

Looking for a lightweight and I am impressed, but two things concern me, 1 It looks draughty with a full mesh inner. 2, a bit complicated for a quick pitch in bad weather. I will keep checking out though as it does look like it would take some punishment in bad weather which is ultra important if backpacking the mountains early spring and late autumn... Very impressed with the weight, overall I will keep it in my list as a possible buy...

You have a very nice tent there. Unfortunately, your description cannot tell you the depth of your apse, only the area. How big is the distance from the inner tent wall to where the zippers come together on the ground?

Hey Tim, I recently bought the slingfin but couldn't figure out how to set up the fly halfway with the toggles like you mention!
@SlingFin12 жыл бұрын
Hey Omar! To set up the fly halfway, you attach the four toggles along the long poles at one end of the tent, and then attach the two toggles at the ends of the cross pole. Then you can fold the rest of the fly back (or roll it up) so it leaves the other end of the tent exposed!

My only concern is setting up in the rain and not getting the “inner “ tent wet. Is there a way to setup the rain fly before ( or with ) the mesh/bathtub floor?
@SlingFin15 жыл бұрын
Yep! The footprint gives you easy dry pitch capability. You can set up the poles and the fly without the body, then attach the body to the poles once they've been set up with the fly. Another option to do this without the footprint takes a little practice, but works in a pinch. You can spread the fly out over the assembled long poles, and then spread the tent body out underneath the poles. Then, grommet the poles in the corners and attach the clips to the the poles from underneath the fly.

@@SlingFin1 Awesome! I just purchased one, no instructions, used. It would be terrific if you posted a video on what you just explained. Showing the community that it can be pitched in rain would be a bonus.

@@danwesson2485 That's a great idea! It's a common question, so I'll definitely add that to our video queue.

SlingFin I hope you do! I live in a rain forest - SE Alaska so it is a concern. I almost did not purchase your portal for that reason alone. I also own your Badger...that pack is DA BOMB!!!

You guys should make a quick tutorial on setting it up, not just showing off features. I have a small aluminum tube, about 4” long and I have no idea where it goes
@sedotable3 жыл бұрын
I don't own this tent but I know they ship a repair tube in case a pole breaks. I guess this is it. Pretty generous, I've never heard of a tent being shipped with one. Slide it over the broken pole so it covers the broken section and fix it with tape.

The footprint is sold separately, or you can cut a piece of tyvek or polycro to fit.

Might wanna rethink that price tag. It's unlikely many people are gonna shell out that kind of money for a 3 lb tent when there are several much cheaper 2p double wall options in the 2 lb range.
@SlingFin15 жыл бұрын
Most of those "two person" tents are one-person tents. They're also made with cheap fabrics. The price of the Portal reflects the high cost of the materials to make it.

@@SlingFin1 looks good 1 picky thing tho lol for those in more rural terrain such as scotland here in the uk, it would be nice if there was an optional choice of colour to suit such as od green or camo for the more rural of hikers/campers with perhaps a less bright black bathtub. For better privacy
@Sign3dInBlo0d4 жыл бұрын
@@SlingFin1 also I read about it being 1800mm hydrostatic? How does this differ from opposing companies in relation to waterproof, what I mean is the usual saying is the higher the better and for the price youd expect it to be perhaps higher rated, or are we missing something as to how it's just as good with perhaps it still being a lower rated fly /bathtub? Thanks
