I Caught The Big 3 Catfish Species! (Bank Fishing)

It's always a good day fishing when you can hook into 3 different species of catfish. To catch "The Big 3" all in the same day, is a very rare occasion in my experience. The channel catfish, blue catfish and flathead catfish are the three (3) primary catfish species in the United States (North America). Most fishermen refer to these 3 catfish species as "The Big Three"!

I was curious about using the Santee rig and using a larger hook size. Now I see it works well, and even a 1 pounder will take bait off a large hook. Seeing how you did a reel-in on the stand to set the circle hook then grab the rod once you knew the fish was hooked is very informative. Good stuff, thanks for posting.

Hey, hey Slinger!!! Another informative video. I like you perserverence! Yessurr!!! I just celebrated one year on the banks and piers. I love the peace of mind fishing brings. One thing I learned jut a couple weeks ago is that catfish are shameless cannibals!! I caught a throwback size, cut his head off, and made catfish stakes. Used it for bait. My first cast I caught 15 pound 35 inch blue catfish!!! I've been using catfish bait ever since. And catching more catfish than ever. Have you ever tried fishing with catfish for bait? I'd love to see you do a video using it for bait. I'm sure you'll be successful as well. 👍🏾

Yea that first spot was a catfish nursery, . That water looks shallow but you may get a cruising flatly.

Have you ever thought about using catfish bells to clamp on the end of your rods. That way, when you’re not paying attention to your rods, the bell will tinkle to get your attention. That’s what I use. If I’m talking to someone or walk off from my rods, the bell will get my attention when the catfish bites. I like your video. You fish like I fish.

Good job man, did you ever think of using big baits? I flat head fish, in VA. In the James River. I use 8" to 12" carp as live bait and consistently catch big fish. Try it man, I promise that your sizes will consistently be larger!😂 Just thought I would give some experienced advice. That includes the blues too. Did you ever think if collating with Pig Patrol TV? Love your informative videos. I was wondering if I can ask you a question here on Santee rig. Whenever i do this method, i see the float just lifts up the bait to the surface because the weight is not fixed. I started using a fixed weight instead of inline weight. So I see the bait wont come to the surface. But that kinda defeats the purpose of santee rig. Coz the fish will feel the weight once it's fixed. And I see yours is inline weight and you have a lot of success doing it. I would really appreciate if you could give me your insight on it. This has been haunting me for a long while and i don't see this issue has been addressed anywhere properly. Thank you !!

How often do you rebait?

About every 15-30 minutes, I only do this one rod at a time. Don’t want to spook all of the catfish away, if they’re in the area of your baits, so I wait another half a hour before I rebait another rod and recast it.

Thanks man, it took a lot of practicing lol let me tell you! I set my reel breaks drag on tight, then I slowly loosen it until my rig and bait slowly falls when I open the bail. @@SlingNBaits cool I'm from erie PA me and my brother used to night fish on the beach front of lake Erie fill up our cooler build a little fire and nail channel cats all night. I used a glow in the dark tip my brother used the oldskool bell of the tip of his and our bait varied from liver,leeches, nightcrawlers and salmon eggs every now and then we would catch some huge lake trout. Was the best way to get away from the hood.

My preferred choice of bait is always CUT BAIT! I like how much scent it puts out into the water, the catfish will find your bait much quicker! I catch all of my bait from the same waters I fish, just using a cast net.

It’s actually a lake dawg, it’s called El Dorado Lake. It also has a excellent river that runs into this lake called Walnut River.

Just a suggestion man . You don't need to hook your baits so deep. Like the head I just hook through the lips or eyes

You need to leave a lil mo gap cleared on those circle hooks when you bait them. using heads go up through the bottom of the lips and through the nostril. das all u need for better hook ups. and pleaseeeee toss the fish a lil further away from the bank when you release them bruh come on. lololol
