Early Season Reservoir Catfish! (Bank Fishing)

During late winter when ice covers most lakes and reservoirs, this often causes a major die-off of gizzard shad. During early season, late February through early March when the ice finally thaws, all those dead shad stuck to the ice, sink to the bottom and are washed up against shoreline banks. During this time of the year, dead, frozen shad make an excellent catfish bait choice! Honestly, early season catfishing can either be a BOOM or Bust? Somedays you could be in the right place at the right time and catch tons of catfish. Seriously, when the catfishing is good during the early season, its always a great time to be the water. Believe me, when it’s bad, it can be really uncomfortable, discouraging and frustrating, especially after standing on a shoreline for hours with chilly winds blown right into your face! But when it comes to early season catfishing, it's all about location, bait and timing. This video is packed with plenty of tips on finding and catching early season reservoir catfish. The thing that amazes me the most about you is that you catch fish on frozen bait. I have caught Channels on fresh cut bait, but never frozen. You do an excellent job of taking care of your bait! Maybe, try a crawler on the top hook of a 2 hook rig & see what surprises you catch? Especially, if you are missing fish. Last year I was fishing a spot for bait & could keep a crawler in the water with the small channels biting. Great for the future! My buddy loves ❤ Mustad demon hooks. Lids in Gatlinburg Tennessee stitched Catfish on the side of my new fishing hat.
