One of the lessons I learned shooting Archery was the importance of FOLLOW THROUGH after the shot, and I haven't seen it addressed in any how to shoot a slingshot videos. Which is the subconscious tendency to anticipate the shot and relaxing one or both of your hands and/or the body position prematurely, also called peeking. The fix is to hold your entire hand and body positions until the shot hits the target. Then relax. Also allow a brief time interval between the shots. To allow the muscles to recover and your brain to process the prior shot. Don't hurry and instantly begin reloading for the next shot thus blurring all the shots together!

That is a matter of personal preference and is not as important as the speed shooters have proven.

I see you have a magnetic ammo holder on your table. Any chance you'll get those back into stock any time soon? I'm waiting on ordering some spare bands till you have the ammo holder in stock, since shipping north of the border is expensive, so I try to "batch" my orders. Thanks!

Was practicing today with otf slingshot and cant figure out how I got a hand hit or graze, but it whelp up pretty good, almost like a direct hit, but clay ball still made it a ways, is it common to get ha d hits starting out

Nathan, hello from Russia! I have a difficult question for you and I will be very glad if you answer it: is there any speed increase if we use butterfly style in comparison with mouth anchor style in condition whe we use max draw weight per 1 gram of ammo, for example 3 kilo per 1 gram. In another words: can we increase speed by making active length of bands longer when we cannot gain anything by increasing draw weight?
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
I believe that question is on our list. :) Stay tuned!

@@simpleshot So, you are going to make a video about this topic, yes?)
@SkywalkFPV Жыл бұрын
@PavelVitalievich the video is called (How does draw weight / elongation affect velocity) So I was told butterfly creates more acceleration/inertia/velocity into the ammo than anchored, because there is more band length that is able to contract, even though a fixed anchor with shorter bands can be the same draw weight per gram it is not the unit of measure that should be used for slingshots, but is more used for bow strings and limbs, for latex more things need to be considered when looking for the output. Anyway the simple answer to Pavel is Yes..
@simpleshot Жыл бұрын
@PavelVitalievich Wow, two years went by! As @@SkywalkFPV mentioned, there are now several videos about this topic. Draw weight is NOT correlated to ammo velocity. You can have a massive draw weight, but have slooooow bands (think a tubed wrist rocket for example). The correlation actually is the MORE you elongate (stretch) the latex, the MORE the potential retraction / velocity. So butterfly - with such a LONG stretch - has great potential for retraction . . . But a tuned band to an anchor point on the face can attain the same elongation and therefore the same velocity down range. For example, a 10 inch bandset stretched to 50 inches (butterfly) has the same elongation as a 6 inch bandset stretched to 30 inches and will result in the same velocity. (there will always be a slight variance, but little enough to call it the same) Also interesting: Our research with slo-mo videos show how quickly the ammo leaves the pouch on release. So when shooting butterfly, the ammo is in free flight as it comes by your ear. There's not an added velocity gain from the pouch having more time in contact with the ammo because it simply doesn't exist. The ammo leaves the pouch almost instantly. The more you stretch, the more potential speed. The flip side is that stretch is wear and tear, so the more you stretch the shorter the band life. Thanks for asking and for bringing this question back up!
@SkywalkFPV Жыл бұрын
@@simpleshot Awesome reply for sure that is appreciated, but this does adds some things to wonder about once more!.. o.0.. looking at "For example" Yes the elongation can be setup the same, but then again draw-weight equals the term elongation here, they can now be considered the same when the same band material and setup is used in this theoretical example.. So In this different shooting style example, there is still a difference where more idle material has more length to retract after stretching and so more time to push that added velocity into the ammo, that could be measurable even though it might only be marginal.. To clarify the ammo already being in freeflight by your ear when shooting butterfly is still more travel 'time' in the pouch than compared with less time the ball would go in freeflight from face anchor style, right?! So It amazes me that "added velocity simply doesn`t' exist because the ammo leaves the pouch almost instantly" while also saying "little enough variance to call it the same" On top of that is hard to comprehend that "the more you stretch has more potential speed" contradicts "it doesn`t exist" again XD.. Am I sensing any bias towards anchored shooting here? lol.. Also "the more you stretch is wear and tear" is no different in this case when comparing these two types of shooting styles, because we are considering the same draw-weight, material, taper, ammo, frame (setup) - so the wear and tear should also be the same for both these shooting styles, Right?! So anyway while me being all sharp about this just to be clear, the question that now evolved when using the same setup theoretically - how much "slight" fps difference are we talking here "potentially" between these two styles?!..
