The Machine Bow is a reality. Finally. At last.
Freude schöner Götterfunken.
UPDATE: Here are some answers to all those suggestions and tips.
Angle adapter: Forget those, they create a ton of friction and you lose plenty of torque. Plus they really don't save much space.
Angle drills: Not enough torque.
Angle grinders: They lack the transmission, super high rpm but ZERO torque.
Counterweights: As I said in the video, the "bucking" comes from the draw resistance of the bow limb. If you remove the trigger sear, the whole contraption runs very smoothly.
The shooter has to hold the weapon AGAINST the rotation that cocks the string, that takes much force.
Add a second bow to compensate: This would only work if the second bow would be cocked at the SAME TIME, but directed downwards. But this won't work as the drill does not have enough power.
Ball bearings, teflon, and other fancy stuff: This is the Slingshot Channel, not the "High End CNC channel". I saw parts out from plywood, with a hand saw. Low tech rulez.
Mounting the mag from below: Possible, but how to hold the weapon then? Plus, why? This isn't a sniper gun that needs a scope. It is "spray and pray".

@@Zaire82 I think people in real life didn't make such things because of the acceleration of the arms race. Oh, and gunpowder. Once they got the technology, tools, infrastructure and skills to (mass) produce repeating crossbows, guns were stronger and easier to use/produce. So there was no real reason to pursue such technology. As for siege weapons... Well the trebuchet was just perfect : strong, easy to use, buildable on site, and used easy to find ammo: big rocks. Balistas just couldn't compete. And then, canons made everything obsolete. So yeah... Maybe people would've gone the way of the crossbow/balistas if humans didn't discover blackpowder and gunpowder.

Some ideas I'd like joerg to see 1 - LESS VERTICAL MOTION: considering the arrow is fired from *the same position each shot* , it is unnecessary to have the magazine moving along with the drawing mechanisim. this extra mass is the main cause of the vertical displacement. you could have *the magazine fixed* to the stock at the firing angle with *the bow string rotating up to meet* the magazine at the firing angle. 2 - DOUBLE SPEED: a second efficiency to address is the fact that *the drill is only exerting force on the bow string for one half of its cycle* , the other half of the cycle is potential torque wasted (as it is returning to the starting position for half the time). when the string is released it returns almost immediately to the starting position at which point another drawing arm (set opposed to the first i.e 3oclock and 9oclock) could be immediately retracting the string for a second shot. firing every half rotation (adjustments will need to be made to allow for string return time) : *DOUBLE SPEED*. *the string will only ever follow the bottom half of the drills arc, unlike in the rubber band demonstrator where it remains attached and follows the top half too

Hi Joerg, if you needed extra support, I see the revolving mechanism does not come all the way to directly above the trigger guard, so you could probably design a Barrett M82A2 style stock that allows you to shoulder it better and if you made it so you could add weight to the bottom, the weight could offset the yaw force created by firing the crossbow with de gravitational force derived from the weight and it wouldnt mess up the rotational cycle. Cheers.

Flying cars , ? Still a long way to go . In fact even in 2020, govt is teaching us to wash hands and prevent the spread of virus. If 1900 people time travel and come to 2020 thinking it will be utopia metropolis like how writers and movies predicted in the first half of the century. . They will be sadly disappointed. Disease stricken , physically not strong , reliaing on machines .
