Also interesting about the 35cal. air rifle, we are allowed sub 12ftlbs for a rifle in the UK and 6ftlbs for a pistol, a folding stock with still working action puts the rifle in the pistol class and limits so you won't often see the folding stocks over here unless they are attached to a pistol to make a carbine version. Airsoft is different but at least we still have full auto for those! (for now) They're talking about banning crossbows over here thanks to some idiot getting caught on Buckingham Palace's grounds with one over Christmas.

In Finland, the determining factor on air gun legality is caliber, not power. Air guns firing metal projectiles, under .25 caliber, no registration, no license, no power limitations. That thing's 9mm, so I would neeed a license for it.. and if I need a license, I might as well buy a real gun, it's the same process.

Bucking hell... Get it? Haha
@stevelongoria97852 жыл бұрын
@@nuclearmedicineman6270 what kind of limitations are on firearms in Finland?
@nuclearmedicineman62702 жыл бұрын
@@stevelongoria9785 Technically none. It's complicated. There's a lot of bureaucracy, there's only one weapon that's completely illegal, that nobody can have.. a slingshot with a brace. In practice, 22 inch overall length in firing condition, 11 inch minimum barrel length, 10 round maximum capacity for rifles, semi-auto only (designed as such, not converted from full auto), under .50 cal. Suppressors are legal if you own a firearm, no tax, no extra paperwork, it's just a gun part. For regular guns, you need a license to buy/manufacture guns/gun parts (barrels, receivers, trigger groups, suppressors) for each gun. The local police *shall* issue license if you have an acceptable reason (hunting/sporting/military reserve training/collecting..) with proof of activity/membership, the gun is fit for purpose (can't get a license for. 22 pistol for hunting, can get a license for it for target shooting) and you pass the background check (not a felon, not legally declared insane). No carry. Self defense isn't an acceptable reason. And you need a gun safe. The fun stuff (machine guns/.50 cal and over/disguised guns/30 round mags..) requires a dangerous weapon license, which they *may* issue. If you manage to convince a bureaucrat to sign off on that license, there are no limitations whatsoever; any barrel length, any caliber, any mechanism, buy/manufacture/import, as long as you get a license. Basically, we only care if you're going to use the gun for crime or not.. that's why small pistols (easy to conceal, no real use other than hiding them) are dangerous weapons, but full sized pistols are regular firearms (hard to conceal, used for sport). And if you're a member of a sport shooting organization who practices/competes regularly you obviously need a pistol, so you get a license for one. The longer you've been doing it, the easier it is to get a license, less chance that you're a criminal looking to obtain a gun. I'm a member of a hunting and a sport shooting club. it takes about an hour for me to get a license, including the drive to the police station.. dozens of guns, years of activity. If you're a long time serious collector of military firearms, and you have secure facilities, you might get licenses to buy machine guns to complete the collection. So, you can get a license for a semi-auto AR pretty easily, you might get a license for a .50 cal belt-fed machine gun, but you definitely can't own a slingshot with an arm brace.. for reasons.

This reminds me of an OSS project codenamed "Bigot", which was an attempt to get the 1911 to shoot a dart about the size of the Steambow bolt using a blank cartridge. You'd push the dart down the front of the barrel, and the flights were a single piece and slid up the shaft of the dart so in its loaded state they would be right under the dart's point. When you fired, the shaft and point would move while the flights stayed still due to inertia until the end of the shaft caught the flights and pulled the whole thing out of the barrel.

What people could do is make a "safe" version alongside the normal version, I suppose? My country basically counts crossbow as a firearm, So I made a bunch of plastic bolts tipped with slightly weighted nerf elite darts to shoot in some of my jank as all hell pvc pistol crossbows. the bolt rail is, of course, quite different to accommodate the nerf dart tip and in the same formfactor(joerg's 1911), the magazine will only be able to hold 4 instead of 5 bolts because the foam tip stacks differently The big upside is that it's really really safe(with reasonable rubberband load, obviously). Was able to bring it to a nerf war.
@nicktechnubyte11842 жыл бұрын
Oh, somebody definitely will make one! As for the ban, I'm pretty sure that just like the US, the UK has a lot more guns in the rural areas of the country than the major cities! So it doesn't matter whether or not they put a ban, weapons will never stop being used, made, or sold! I wish that wasn't the case, but facts are facts! And besides, drug deaths are far higher than gun deaths every single year!

Should be dope. Cool to see 1911 style “guns” (not really, but still) elsewhere. A lot of current day handguns use a similar operating mechanism to the 1911, so one could say most modern handguns are still just fancier 1911s with different features.

As a woodworker I have designed several repeating rubber band guns of various styles, revolvers, semi autos, shot gun or a lever action rifle. It’s no easy task to design such a thing. The major drawback is there is no energy (gas pressure or recoil) output to cycle the repeating action. As shown you either have to cock the weapon each time or put all the energy needed to cycle the action into it as you load the weapon. But I keep on trying to keep upping my game.
