Did anyone notice that this song is only a few seconds apart from being 8:50 long? That's incredible accuracy to the original song, especially considering they haven't really played with each other for an extensive period of time since Spiderland was recorded.

I somehow had heard these guys back in ‘95 (I was 15). I looked all over for their CD here in the states. New/used record stores weren’t able to order it (cause it was out of print if I recall)… I ended up in London visiting family and at Tower Records I finally found their self titled and Spiderland. Long time fan!

Great to see these guys playing again! I've listened to Spiderland as much as any other album in my collection and it's still unique and wonderful! Saw them live in 1990 (?) at University of Evansville (my hometown). They were about a year or two older than me.

Ok, now Brian McMahan is singing AND playing some guitar. Does anyone know why sometimes he's just singing/speaking and not playing the guitar at all, on some live songs?
@anthonypanella718
@anthonypanella718 8 жыл бұрын
+Antoine Gingras-Saint Louis I'd imagine it's just because his speaking vocals are arrhythmic. He probably can sing this one and play, while the others are more challenging because he'd have to play on beat with the band while speaking off beat. Some people can do it, but playing and singing is hard enough for some.

I don't get why they haven't made another album. I think they've got the talent to pull off another good album. It may not be Spiderland, but that's what happens with bands, they have a breakthrough album which they'll never pull off again, but they should still go ahead to make one.

I just watched the "Breadcrumb Trail" Documentary about Slint, and read the 33.1/3 book about Spiderland, and by those accounts the process of writing the music on Spiderland was intense, and basically a non-paying full time job. They were very young and had dropped out of college to make this music, I'm not sure if they would be able to commit to something so time intensive. I'm not sure If I would enjoy a half baked Slint album.
@hihihi8447
@hihihi8447 7 жыл бұрын
gasmaskboi19371945 Hate how the dumb uninformative comment has 8 likes. But I was thinking this after watching Breadcrumb Trails. I wouldn't even mind just an instrumental album too because I really like their EP. But it would be redundant at this point because Spiderland influence is already in a lot of Post Rock. Slint wouldn't sound as fresh or interesting. Also. They're out of their Slint prime years and have already moved on to new sounds. The hype wouldn't be worth it when you're trying to follow up Spiderland.
@orpheussf
@orpheussf 5 жыл бұрын
I remember Jon Cook from Crain (another Louisville band at the time) tried to get me to listen to Spiderland when it first came out, but I wouldn't because I was writing a paper. But when I did, I think I played it for a week straight. I think it's so cool that it went on to be so influential and appreciated. Don't wish another Slint album would have come out. For a lot of reasons, that was impossible. Even the reunion was a surprise. Instead, check out Rodan, The For Carnation, Papa M/ Aerial M, The Rachels, The Shipping News, June of 44, Evergreen, Hoover- jeez, I know I'm missing someone, sorry- all bands that came out of Slint. Also remember Slint came out of a supportive local scene and especially involved parents. Support your local scene, your neighborhood record shop, the clubs and venues. Get involved and watch a masterpiece come from YOUR town!
