Slinza, the Spiked Stampede | Commander/EDH Deck Tech

The old Onslauht set had Beast creature type theme and it has Wirewood Savage, and Krosan Warchief both are slam dunks in Slinza. And they made Woodland Liege in foundations jumpstart which is basically doubles as another copy of the Wirewood Savage.

If my math is right, this guy could be ramped out turn 3. Elder Gargaroth, Questing Beast, and Realmwalker can be dropped turn 4. Craterhoof turn 5! Solid build! Taruean Mauler, Bloodline Pretender and Adaptive Automaton are contenders too. Automaton is an anthem that costs 1 in the deck. Mauler and Pretender can grow huge and will be removal bait instead of your commander. Also, Formless Genesis will have its cost reduced as it is a beast. Then it will make you a very large beast and you can keep cantripping with retrace. That could be a solid win con if you hold up lands in your hand with stuff like cultivate.

Taurean and Bloodline should be in the list, I tried to get the changelings involved where I can. Dang I always look over Formless Genesis, I need to stop missing that lol

Ooooh good ideas! I had focused more on stuff like Garruk’s Harbinger/Garruk’s Uprising/Elemental Bond in my head and forgot about those!

Still new, but quick question about Slinza. So if a beast comes in, it’ll get the +1/+1 counter, then if they’re greater than4 power they’ll fight? Or does both happen at the same time? I guess what happens if a 3/3 token comes in? Will it be a 4/4 with the counter then fight?

Slinza's ability to put a counter on entering creatures is a replacement effect before the creature officially enters. So all Beasts will have that counter for the purposes of Slinza's ability or draw enchantments like Garruk's Uprising
