Happy Sunday Cousins!!! Today I'm talking about slip vs. slick and showing you guys my favorite CHEAP DETANGLING conditioner since I know a lot of people wanted an alternative in the last video. I washed my hair today with the vo5 kiwi 🥝 lime conditioner and my hair smelled like the green jolly rancher. My hair was really soft after rinsing out. Ive noticed that my bottle specifically says at the bottom that it’s silicone and paraben free. Sometimes these conditioners can be found in my grocery store for $.79. Dollar tree sells a large variety of them for $1. Vo5 used to make a clarifying conditioner(cucumber I believe) and I don’t think it’s made anymore. I still have the bottle with a little of that conditioner in it. It seemed like it disappeared when all the co washing came to light and higher end brands started labeling a product a co wash, when in actuality a co wash is something a person does, not buy. Even if I spent $12 on 12 bottles of Vo5 , I will say I’m winning cause why pay $12 for one bottle of a co wash product when I can co wash my kinks and coils for less 💰💰👏🏾👏🏾😍

@@Mrs.Rockies I'm aware of the ingredients and honestly I don't mind that much because it's being washed out and I only use it 1 or 2 times a month. Also with a product only being a dollar, I expect it to have some questionable ingredients. But that's a risk I'm personally willing to take.

This definitely makes sense, but for my hair (high porosity) it seems that it likes the slick of silicones more than actual slip. I was CG for a year and a half and my wash days got longer and longer (up to 7 hours to detangle all my hair) and I could no longer wash my hair without having it in braids in the shower due to it feeling incredibly fragile as it soaked up more and more water. I was a massive product junkie and had TONS of products with loads of slip, and even though they were SUPER slippery in my hands, I still could not efficiently detangle my hair (strands would still snag on each other instead of glide). I use protein pretty often as well. I have tried a bunch of products that claimed to address high porosity hair but those just matted my hair. ACV also does not work for me. When I went back to using silicones my hair immediately became so much more manageable and I can now wash and detangle my hair IN the shower as my hair no longer soaks up too much water. I guess for me I actually need that barrier. I'm still a massive product junkie and I'm always trying out new conditioners because I liked how soft my dry hair was when I was CG but unfortunately no luck. Oh and silicones have never made my hair feel soft. It actually feels dry which is why I only use it to detangle and immediately wash it out.

I could not agree more, I loved hearing this take on it. I got my haircut and they used a silicone based styler. I hated it! It felt so gross and I washed my hair the very next morning to get it out. It also weighed my hair down a lot. I have to say too when I stopped using silicones i had the most horrible build up that had the grossest texture I've ever experienced when rinsing in the shower. I used sulfate free before I knew that silicones were bad and so it just built up. It's interesting to see how I got used to the natural textures from products that actually hydrated and protected my hair.

Thanks for the video even tho we don't have V05 in the Netherlands I appreciate the time explaining slipp vs slick... do you know if the aunt Jacky or the ors kids smell mild and are any good? I found them online but can't smell or get a sample version. And I'm very curious and there are not many reviews on them a few kids videos showing How To use them but not if the liked it had good slip or how they smelled. (I can't stand to much smell ) I'm searching for good affordable (read cheap) hair products that don't smell to pungent.... I was in England on Holliday and over there they have a way bigger selection of african/Asian hair products because of a bigger population of Africans and Asians. So i went to the store and smelled all the product lines...And the assie moist... I can't with the smell.... I wanted to like it so much and know what every body was raving about. Cuz it was on sale for 60% off and that's 75% cheaper then in Holland... and because I'm still in the middle of using silicone hair products I figured 1 extra mask with silicone can't hurt...but dang that sweet bubble gum smell. No ma'm. So I got a few tresseme botanicals and 6 bottles of herbal essence naked detox line with just soluble silicones and a much less pungent smell ( got them for 2 pounds per bottle jeej ) Also got some palmers olive oil sulfate free shampoo. I have to use up my old silicone and sukfate stash first.( i have about 6 months worth of producys ...🙈 I'm not wasting 40 euros of hair care products because waste not want not. But I will be washing my daugter s hair with silicone and sukfate free... I wish we has v05 tho cuz I bought silicone and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner from our version of the dolar store near my village but wasn't impressed no slip and 1 tangly mess... my daugter was In tears after I had to spend 45 to 60 min coming her hair. I used so much coconut oil and detangler spray her hair needed a wash again the next day..🤔😖 Trail and error. But hope to soon be able to be silicone free. And find wich products are good for our hair. Sorry for the ramble you do Inspire To thing and read and Investigate. I have lists of all products in my price range ingredients all listed and colour coded and wich are curly girl friendly and wich are water soluble or non buildable on them self... but alas I can't smell them or find many reviews on all of them.

Yesterday, I wash my hair with a sulfate moisturizing shampoo, I tried this hair mayonise and rinse it out with cool/cold water like 20-30 min later. It was werid, I felt a *film* on my hair after rinsing, reminds me of a detangling spray I used. I was scared because, as I try to smooth my hair with the praying hands method, it felt and sounded squeaky clean and I was worried my hair was gonna break or something because it felt like I only put water in my hair, wet but not moisturized. I towel-dried and applied some leave in and twist it and today my hair feels back to normal. I'm worried that my conditioner only just smooth down my cuticles but didn't actually moisturize it or seal in moisture.
