I like when an album or song takes me a few listens to "get". Then there's a steady progression from "hmmm" to "okay" to "whoa" to "GOD DAM SON". Slipknot has always been that way for me. There's so much happening that you can't absorb it all without many, many listens. They still surprise me years after the fact when I finally notice a subtle texture in a song I've listened to hundreds of times.

Im a 50yr old lifelong metal fan and this band is incredible!! I saw them in Raleigh NC and it was one of the best shows Ive ever seen!! They rocked that place!! Also I saw every age, race, and type of folks imaginable and it was one big American family!! Honestly it was the most polite and well behaved crowd I've ever seen!!! METAL!!!

So much emotion in lyrics, details in instrumentation, catchy chorus, killing riffs, no experimental noises, out-of-scale bits in the leads that fits well into the song, sick vocals by corey to complete the masterpiece. For me there most underrated album is subliminal versus. There self titled album and Iowa kicked me in the balls and showed me the music I’ll love for the rest of my life. Then subliminal came out, changed it up a bit and delivered something different but just as good. For me anyway. I love that they change. The only band I can say that has a 100% rating is System of a Down. I love each and everyone of their songs. If it wasn’t for all hope is gone I’d be able to say the same about slipknot. not exactly. corey started doing that overly melodic crap and it is too discernible from the first couple of albums. i love nearly everything they do, but the truth is when he started singing like that they lost alot of rawness and the production on the vox is a major part of that problem. maybe its just being a musician, but i hear all the new people and they are a major departure from the original band. this drummer is not artistic enough. you wont find another joey but there are people out there that would introduce enough similarity where it counts and use their own style to write new material. this guy is too metal, and even though people often classify slipknot as metal, the early stuff was like a totally new genre. i called it psycho metal. thats what the band lost. they are officially a metal band, no longer psycho metal.

@@DarkMustard1337 no doubt. all i want is for them to stop polishing everything down and go back to the production style of iowa. so many of their songs over the years could be tweaked and more psychotic. it would be so amazing if they sort of just dropped an album that sounds exactly like what we expected after the first two, particularly the growth on iowa. reading these comments i can tell that many of these kids don't even listen to those records as much as whatever came out closer to their teenage years. its very strange to see these comments exonerating all of their slowly growing faults. they manage to put out some great stuff... they haven't lost a bit of what they had in the beginning... except key players... which is very noticable... and are due to be replaced with more artistic people who actually share key qualities with the original members. finally, someone needs to duct tape corey's mouth shut sometimes... this overproduced melodic stone sour shit is really the only thing that they should completely ditch. its a favorite of the aforementioned kids.
