First band I saw live was Slipknot when I was aged 13 (and I'm 31 now, as I'm rediscoving my teenage infatuation for metal) - and easily a more monumental occasion than any of my other "first times" by far. Just...what an absolutely insane concert it was (it was the Slipknot & Slayer tour, with Mastodon supporting) - first and only time I ever went crowdsurfing too 😅

Yep, "when no one else is listening, only when you've had enough, time to sing your dying song alone" describes my situation quite well. I've had enough of this life, enough of my chronic depression, I don't want it anymore, but I have someone who's still listening, and they are the only reason I've not sung my dying song yet. As soon as they go, I'll go as well.

Dude exactly! I'm absolutely impressed by bands like Slipknot and Korn too, that they still manage to pour out this insanity and hurt into their work, and still be freaks, without "growing out of it", cause there still are people who identify with exactly this, no matter the age. That's what I love about these people and their art. They are not the same they were back those 25 years ago, but gladly they are not someone else entirely too. And that is perfect as it is.

Slipknot - The Dying Song (Time To Sing) OFFICIAL LYRICS: Put your hands into the water Let your mouth go sick and dry Put your life into your death now Let them sing until you die Die, die, die, yeah Radical rather than rhetorical Babble like an oracle Why am I always in your debt? Father and the son and the holy ghost Communist comatose Show me all the wagers are a bet The middle of a nuclear winter Is a modern achievement of the retro apocalyptic horde Satan? You must be mistaken There are no more Satans Only the bosses on the board Forget, deny, ignore, nice try, it's you Regret, rely, remorse inside of you Yeah Maybe you've been down too long Maybe you've been down too long The heart begins to suffer When the soul has given up And the flesh is barely more than bone When no one else is listening Only when you've had enough Time to sing this dying song alone Put your hands into the water Let your mouth go sick and dry Put your life into your death now Let them sing until you die Die, die, die, yeah Maybe you've been down too long Maybe you've been down too long Think hard, you b*stards You're gonna tell me why If I don't get an answer You're gonna sing and die Think hard, you b*stards You're gonna tell me why If I don't get an answer You're gonna sing and die The heart begins to suffer When the soul has given up And the flesh is barely more than bone When no one else is listening Only when you've had enough Time to sing this dying song alone Put your hands into the water Let your mouth go sick and dry Put your life into your death now Let them sing until you die Put your hands into the water Let your mouth go sick and dry Put your life into your death now Let them sing until you die Edit: Censored Some Cusses

This one song sounds the best to me out of the last three records. So much emotion in lyrics, details in instrumentation, catchy chorus, killing riffs, no experimental noises, out-of-scale bits in the leads that fits well into the song, sick vocals by corey to complete the masterpiece. I'm genuinely happy for my growing-up favorite band.

not exactly. corey started doing that overly melodic crap and it is too discernible from the first couple of albums. i love nearly everything they do, but the truth is when he started singing like that they lost alot of rawness and the production on the vox is a major part of that problem. maybe its just being a musician, but i hear all the new people and they are a major departure from the original band. this drummer is not artistic enough. you wont find another joey but there are people out there that would introduce enough similarity where it counts and use their own style to write new material. this guy is too metal, and even though people often classify slipknot as metal, the early stuff was like a totally new genre. i called it psycho metal. thats what the band lost. they are officially a metal band, no longer psycho metal.

@@DarkMustard1337 no doubt. all i want is for them to stop polishing everything down and go back to the production style of iowa. so many of their songs over the years could be tweaked and more psychotic. it would be so amazing if they sort of just dropped an album that sounds exactly like what we expected after the first two, particularly the growth on iowa. reading these comments i can tell that many of these kids don't even listen to those records as much as whatever came out closer to their teenage years. its very strange to see these comments exonerating all of their slowly growing faults. they manage to put out some great stuff... they haven't lost a bit of what they had in the beginning... except key players... which is very noticable... and are due to be replaced with more artistic people who actually share key qualities with the original members. finally, someone needs to duct tape corey's mouth shut sometimes... this overproduced melodic stone sour shit is really the only thing that they should completely ditch. its a favorite of the aforementioned kids.

This song proves how much of an influence Joey was on Jay......if you close your eyes an forget it's him you could almost say it's Joey. Jay was such an amazing choice an this song is brilliant. Thank you Slipknot for just being a band that delivers something special every time.

I absolutely agree with this. I remember when The Negative One dropped, at the time I didn't know that Joey was replace I SWORE that Joey wrote it when I found out. Jay is incredible and doesn't get the respect he deserves because he lives in Joey's shadow. Joey was my favorite member of the band, masks and all and Jay was the best pick to replace him. He's even become my current favorite member, he's fucking bad ass.

I will always love them, I will not forget how my aunt showed them to me when I was 7 years old. The truth is that after that year I couldn't find them since I didn't know their name, but it helped me overcome a possible Problem but it's over the fact is that I love them and it will never change that they are my childhood 💗💘
