I remember when I first heard this song when I was in high school, and it changed my life, no lie. Slipknot was one of the biggest gateway bands for me on the way to heavier and more extreme stuff. I kind of left them behind at some point, hardly ever listening to them. When I heard about Joey, I put this album on and was transported back to those days. A lot of emotions came up, some good, some bad. Nostalgia for the good old days, heartbreak for Joey and his family. Slipknot will always be special to me. Very few bands come out of the gate with such savagery and earnest aggression, it was perfect for 16yo me, pissed at the world. Got me through some shit. And Joey was a massive, integral part of that. RIP Joey, thank you.

First song, from being a big gamer I heard by them was Before I Forget from Guitar Hero 3 it’s was different, then… Psychosocial from Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock which was awesome then got into their library via a former schoolmate back in 2011/2012. An amazing band to enjoy and dive into with how unique their stuff is, I actually let my mom recently listen to a few of their more popular stuff and surprisingly enjoyed it. My favorite band of all-time is Avenged Sevenfold and pretty high up there is Slipknot if I want that raw energy to get going. Paul Gray’s loss was so sad and now Joey? I know their best moments will carry on through Slipknot all the maggots. So to Paul and Joey… In Loving Memory, thank you for what you contributed to music. 😥
