Slippy Limpets

4 жыл бұрын

With nearly 4 months passing since my last rock fishing trip I was nearly doing cartwheels when Scotland finally allowed peopled to fish again.
I headed out in the first weather window available to do a spot of LRF fishing and lure fishing.
I was rewarded with an AWESOME day of lure fishing with lots of plump coalifsh on LRF tackle and pollack and cod on heavier tackle.
The fish seemed to love the longer sand eels imitations I was using and hitting the lures on the drop.
I try to bring you along with me and show you as much as of my day as possible.
Hope you enjoy.

I’ve watched this several times now and it’s a serious remedy for me as a desk jockey working long hours! It’s just occurred to me that in addition to the glue, you could wind an inch or so of insulation tape around the body where it would tear, ie just where the hook exits the body. Yellow, black ,green or blue and the right width to suit the lure size- any of them might do.

Thanks for sharing the session buddy, really appreciate it. Boring question I’m afraid. I was intrigued by the radio you carry, is it just a safety thing given you’re fishing alone? I fish with some mates, but still wear a small life jacket and carry a safety line just in case one of us goes in the drink. Never had to use any of it thank fully, but had considered a radio, so would be interested in your view.
@SlippyLimpets
@SlippyLimpets 4 жыл бұрын
That's the thing about safety kit, it's best when it's not used so becomes boring but still needed. I like the idea of a throw line, seems logical when fishing with people. I actually said something on the day about the radio but my camera failed to record...You're right, it is a safety thing, a phone is no good once you're in the water (touch screens and water don't work well) or smashed on the rocks if you fall and a lot of the marks I fish don't get any service. With the radio I can contact the coastguard directly or, because I fish these places a lot, I know which channel the local fishing boats use to call for help. The radio is water proof and floats so doesn't have any of the draw backs of a phone. The particular model I use has bluetooth so can be paired with my phone (which is in a waterproof case) to make or receive calls, if signal is available. Hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions.

How far out would you need to go on a kayak for pollock fishing?

Not far at all, I've caught some of my biggest pollack in 4m of water. Just need to look for current and structure.

Slippy Limpets I’m fishing in south Ireland and storm Ellen is passing through right now and the sea is really rough once the sea settles again would that be a good time to fish for pollock and bass or would it make no difference?

I spent 15 years rock and ice climbing before I fished, so decided to mix the 2 up when I stopped climbing by finding marks that are difficult to access. But you just have to take your time (it took me an 1.5h to find my way down here for the first time) and if you ever have any doubt or feel nervous about the decent, then don't do it, no fish is worth a slip. 👍🎣

@@SlippyLimpets yes it looks like a nice spot it is the climb down that puts me of plus it's a good walk from parking as far as I can tell I'm not sure if I am that brave for the climb down. I will ponder some more.
