Love your content mate. I'm a fellow cold steel aficionado 🤩 a local camping store had the katana machete and the CS wakizashi machete, and I snagged the pair for less than a hundred bucks this past April. I found them at the perfect time because I was reading some translations of miyamoto musashi's writings on his niten ichi ryu "two heavens as one" techniques, and the universe threw an affordable/functional pair of swords that are light enough to dual wield at me.

By the way, you mentioned cold steel being bought out. You might have already seen this, but the founder and the wild guy in a lot of their testing videos, Lynn Thompson, is actually staying with the company at the moment and helping the new guys with designs and production for the time being. ALSO you should check out the specs on the wakizashi size machete. You mentioned handle length, and that one is substantially shorter at the handle. The sheath is also a helluva lot less of a nuisance. It isn't amazing but it's a step in the right direction, and belt attachable.

Ah good to know about the company, and yeah I was really considering the wakizashi instead especially as it was on sale recently. I wanted the longer blade for what I'm doing but otherwise the wak seems really nice.

Thank You! Absolutely best review I have found on this machete. There are few things I have experienced more instantaneously terrifying than smacking a limb with a katana and suddenly realizing there is half a razor sharp katana blade ringing through the air in an unknown direction at high speed.

Sword Abuse: The Movie. :P The fact that it actually stood up to all that is definitely a testament to how robust it is. If it didn't break after all that, I think it's pretty much indestructible.

If this shape of blade does not fit well with a machete type construction,look at the Cold Steel Chinese Sword. It looks like a more fitting blade shape for a machete,and historical version were not much different in level of quality,if not worse.

I have one of the Chinese war sword and I can confirm that, for something that cost me 40 bucks, I LOVE it.

If you wanna invest in a slightly more historical looking version, with better steel, condor offers a chinese war sword, more or less the same blade length and shape, if I remember right, but with a thicker blade and higher carbon content, with wooden handle scales. I don't personally own that one, but a friend let me do some test cutting with his and it was like the cold steel war sword machete on crack. Granted, it costs 150$~ after shipping and handling.

"That thing was too big to be called a sheath. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of nylon."

Saw one comment about leather strap being used for giving the sword that "final edge". And yes, it is good way to do it, but here's one another that I picked up when I was studying as a goldsmith... When we made our own engraving tools, we had to make them literally mirror polish so they'd cut easily on gold and different materials. The way we did was very simple: Take a sheet of paper, like simple printer paper. Now unlike many realize, paper is actually damn hard material (for example, if you have 585 gold ring and you stack papers together against the table, the sides of those paperstacks will scratch your ring). Put that paper on very flat surface and just use crayons to color it up. Don't laugh... 😂 Once you've done it, just start "sharpening" your metal against it. That's what we used to make engraving tools to have mirror polish and I've tested that on some of my knives and it brings out the edge nicely. Gotta be careful tho that you don't "round" the edge, because if you do and it looks mirror polished, it won't cut well. Anyhow, just one tip that might work for your swords as well. Leather is good, but it doesn't give same amount of polish and ability to remove those last bits of roughness from the edge.

Dude that's epic! How heavy is that thing? Looks about 5 pounds. I recently welded up a 17.5 Giant loadable 69 inch sword. I train with it daily on my channel for muscle and stamina generation. I try to do 1000 strikes a day. I'd love to collab with you. I just swing giant heavy swords for stamina and muscular hypertrophy.

Haha that's awesome man, when I was younger there was a company selling huge welded swords but they went out of business before I had the money for one. The machete is only 2lbs if my scale is right. I made a giant wooden suburito that was a similar weight and length to your sword, I respect it.
@thegiantswordworkout
@thegiantswordworkout 2 жыл бұрын
@@JuardianK Nice! You still have the suburito? Recently I've only been doing about 5 different exercises with the giant sword. I'm working into doing with the big sword the 20 different exercises I do with the 10 pound pipe. I've got the exercises on my pipe workout videos.

@@thegiantswordworkout I watched your 1000 swing video I think it's fun content. When I do suburi for strength it is almost always vertical cuts, bringing the blade straight back up each time. Not efficient for cutting but great training. We could definitely see about it one day, have an email I can message?

Bro I love your videos, but you should definitely make them shorter to get into KZbin recommendations more often. Don't get me wrong, your videos are informative and interesting, but you need more viewers to your channel, so you will review more expensive blades.

I'm not concerned with view counts and such. Some of my more recent videos have been shorter, but I wanted to make this review more extensive. Thanks for the support.
