All credit to you for embarking on this journey in less than ideal conditions, and for coming to the rescue of the YHA. I'm sure your trip will prompt others (myself included) to revisit this great institution. A nice video - simple, honest stuff, short and sweet, a dash of humour and a refreshing change from all the over-produced and over-long narrated epics. I'll be following the rest of your journey with interest - best of luck.

Thank you for that lovely comment! I'm so glad you liked the video and I'm touched that you took the trouble to say so in such a thoughtful way. And as to revisiting the YHA: yes, please do! My experience has been overwhelmingly positive and I hope to use them a lot more. As to the less than ideal conditions, well there's more on that coming later in the series, but the editing is going to take me a while!

Without youth hostels, I'd never have discovered my native country - Ireland. I spent most of my student days hiking and cycling around the country enjoying nature. The hostels were a fantastic resource for people like myself on a shoestring budget back then. I even managed to venture up to Scotland for a few months, again staying in youth hostels. Well of course time moves on and things change.... so at 60 and having spent the last several decades in Switzerland, I thought about revisiting the past only to find most of the hostels in Ireland have been wiped out already and the ones I visited in Scotland back then are not fairing much better 😥😥😥 Thanks for sharing your adventure and I'll be keeping an eye out for the next installment.

Just a great video. The route looks like many of my rides over here, but you put in the effort to film it, stopping to retrieve the camera, and moving on. Well done. I’ve not stayed in Swanage YHA but it looks great. Good luck with the rest of your trip.

Thanks for the nice comment. It is a corner of the UK I have never visited before and I thought it was lovely so I'm sure you must have many nice rides there.

Good luck with your trip, I will enjoy following your progress. I took your suggestion ref the Brookes saddle by adjusting the tension so that it was more of a flat profile and after first ride it appears to have worked on eliminating the soreness on one side after a 30 mile ride. Only time will tell.

I'm glad that seems to have worked at least for now. Good luck with it!
