What a lovely route through the Peak District - very scenic countryside on nice trails, just rough enough to feel adventurous without being too difficult. Also, never too far away from a train station for the tactical retreat - good planning! Hopefully the knee improves with rest, but if the problem persists you could consider an ebike. A dodgy-kneed friend of mine bought one recently and it has kept him riding when a regular bike was becoming too much. Glad to see that this episode was not the end.

@@davidwalsh566 Thank you! Yes, the route was just as you describe and probably perfect for the way I was feeling that day. I have thought about an e-bike (I usually think about one when I am climbing a steep hill) but I would like to continue to struggle on for as long as I can under my own steam, albeit slowly! I think it is still an option for the future. The knee does improve with rest, but strangely the pain had completely disappeared by the end of my fully loaded 4000 mile Italian adventure in the summer - which was not rest at all! I don't know why it came back later - maybe British weather had something to do with it! I was really surprised when the weather gave me an opportunity to return to this ride later in November - and there was some wonderful scenery to come! Thanks for watching and writing!

Another great little video, you must have hit the Monsal trail at a good time it is usually busy and the Coombs Rd from Bakewell to Rowsley is a lovely ride a bit of a slog the other way thou.👍👍

@@johnm-wv6bo I'm not surprised that the Monsal Trail is usually busy - it's a fantastic way for people to easily experience some amazing places. My lucky timing had a lot to do with the miserable meteorology that morning - but it brightened up as I rode the trail which was nice. You obviously know the Coombs Rd route well. I only discovered it on my spring ride last year - a good "find"! Thanks for watching! All the best!

Another enjoyable video. Glad you showed the good sense to stop when you had clearly had enough. There's always another day, another knee might be harder to come by. All the best

@@essextrails Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, stopping was the right decision - easy to see but not easy to take. Continuing would have been hard, painful and pretty miserable in the weather that was coming, as well as the risk to my knee in battling the headwinds. I thought it was all over for this year, but as it turns out I am currently working on episode 5! Best wishes!

Great video. I hope your knee gets better soon. I’m interested in who is following you? Is it a drone?

@@jbenn43457 Yes, it's a DJI Neo. I hope it enhances the videos. I try to only use it when no one else (including wildlife) is around to be annoyed by it.
