Slovak Language has the hardest words!!! | Hardest Slovak Words Challenge

I challenged my self to try pronounce the HARDEST Slovak Words and asked the Slovaks. IT WAS HILARIOUS!
Hello guys! Couple of weeks ago, I asked you guys what are the hardest Slovak words there are and I will try to pronounce them and you guys gave me a hard time!!!
Some of my favorite ones are Guľôčka v jamôčke and poľnohospodárstvo

Good work Kim. When you said you needed a water was exactly the point when I was thinking this.... Most consonants in Slovak are spoken the way that sounds are created on the front of your mouth while you seemed to try to make sound from deeper of your mouth or even throat. Thats why you needed water :)

Also *trma-vrma* does not have an exact English translation I think, but we use this word when we are saying somewhere was chaos or turmoil... For example, there were a lot of people in a shop and there was chaos between them - we say: *V obchode bola trma-vrma* . Hope it helped, have a nice day.

You are really good. 👍 If you are having a hard time pronouncing Ľ, you can just say L instead, half of the republic is doing it, especially the people from western and south-western regions. Ľ is present mostly in the northern and eastern regions and dialects. So unless you are a TV presenter at RTVS or reciting a poem, you are totally ok pronouncing L instead of Ľ. ☺

Ľ is present in the official language, not in regions and dialects. But I agree: if Kimberly says Ľ instead of L, but still writes it correctly as Ľ, I would give her a pass. Most of the people will understand her and that's what's important

I wanted to say that in the everyday speech the sound is mostly naturally present in the regions which have Ľ in their dialects and not present in the regions which don't have Ľ in their dialects. In the written form it must be used everytime.

When you said guľôčka it actually sounded Hungarian! We have a word called "golyócska" and it sounded almost the same. Great job by the way! Your Slovak is improving.

Hi Kim. You have a good potencial to speak Slovak very well. Your pronounciaton is good as well as the accent. 👍 I woud have som small advice, how to pronounce words like "väčší, nižší". We, Slovak are first able to pronounce, and only then we learn to write the words, we know. It is the same all over the world in every language. But it also means, that we do not exactly know, how we pronounce words written words, we just do it. And therefore sometimes we pronounce something different than it is written. A nice example is a word "nižší". We do not say "nižší", but "nišší". It is something like "long š" = "ššššššššššš", but not so long. 😀 Similar it in the word "väčší". We pronounce it "väččí". It again something like "long č" = "ččččččččččččč". Very often it is used in words, which has "v" at the end. "Kov, lev, dav, (5) kráv." Then the v is pronounced like clear "u". It means "kou, leu, dau, (5) kráu)". Just for interest, in Czech language the same words are pronounced a little bit different - with "f" at the end of the words: kof, lef, daf, (5) kraf (short "a"). As for the letter "Ľ", soft L, do not be worry, even Czech and Polisch people do not pronounce it perfect. It often sound like lj. This Ľ has even different level of softness in different regions of Slovakia, or even in villages, which are close to each other.The most soft Ľ have Russians (in Russia). I have 2 more Slovak words for you. The officially longest word, and for me most difficult one. The longest word is "najneobhospodarovateľnejšieho". But I have never seen it written somewhere and never heard it in TV, radio or among people. It is just a theoretical word, which is not used by anybody. 😀 The most difficult word for me is a "črvotoč". Sometimes I think I get crazy from it. It means wood worm, which is dangerous for wooden houses and wooden furniture.

One more interesting word is "rozhodnutie". According to this word you can in many cases (almost always 😀) find out, if a mother language of somebody, who speaks perfectly Slovak, is Slovak or Hungarian language. People with Hungarian nationality living in Slovakia usually pronounce it like "roshodnutie". I think, for them is quite difficult to say "zh" in a word.

@@ChasingKimberly As for the word "pštros". It s not so difficult like it seems to be. You must only divide it into 2 parts and between this 2 parts put a very small space. Pš-tros. The best is to start to train with only first part - pš. with long Š: pššššššššš, pššššššš, pššššššššš, pššššššššš, Slovak people use this word, which actually is not a word, when they want so tell somebody very gently, he should be quiet.😀 For example at the meeting in the work. But this word is also used by mothers with very small babies in situation, when baby is crying and mother want to put him to sleep. If you learn pššššš, then you can add "tros": pšššššštros. If you manage it, than you can gradually shorten long š.
