A beautiful country with an amazing variety of landscapes, whether you're into skiing, boating or just sightseeing. They haven't got much of a coastline, but they certainly make the most of it. We stayed in a lovely hotel in Portoroz last year and took a very nice evening stroll along the seafront...all the way to Piran. It could have been almost anywhere on the Italian coast.

Thank you for your kind words about Slovenia! It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Portoroz and the scenic walk to Piran. You're right, the Slovenian coast has a certain charm that evokes the Italian Riviera. I'm glad you mentioned the variety of landscapes Slovenia offers. From the Julian Alps perfect for skiing to the tranquil beauty of Lake Bled, there's something for everyone. It's a country that truly surprises with its diversity. Have you had a chance to explore other parts of Slovenia, perhaps Ljubljana or the Karst region?

@@nationsoftheworld Yes, we've been pretty much all over, as my brother in law lived just over the border in Croatia (until last week). I thought Ljubljana was just lovely. Great views from the castle and I just loved the vibe along the riverside, with all the restaurants and bistros.

@@alfresco8442 That sounds fantastic! Slovenia really does have so much to offer. Ljubljana is such a gem with its vibrant riverside scene and stunning castle views. And having family nearby in Croatia must have been wonderful! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I've explored a lot of countries so far, and I'm not near the end yet. I'm excited to discover and share more gems from all over the world!😁

@@nationsoftheworld The only problem is that Slovenia is not that easy to get to from the UK. We usually have to fly to Venice, then pick up a flixbus or train to Trieste. But I guess you could always pick up a hire car from Venice airport, as the last part of that 2 hr journey is only a stone's throw from NW Slovenia anyway.

Take a drink each time he says Tapestry... Seriously though, nice video. I learned a lot and it was beautiful and peaceful while being interesting and captivating.

Maybe you could try Slovenian wine this way :) even though it's not really suitable. Thanks for your comment i'm glad you liked it, but you are right i will try to reduce the use of the world tapestry. Check out my other videos they have the same Vibe.

One correction. A big one! That flute is not 3500 years old. It ia estimated to be 60.000 years old. There were no Neanderthals 3500 years ago... Another fact: the oldest known wooden wheel has been found in Ljubljana marshes.
@nationsoftheworld5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the correction! I must have mixed up the dates, and I appreciate you pointing that out. It's fascinating to think that the flute is actually around 60,000 years old-an incredible piece of history. Also, the fact that the oldest known wooden wheel was found in the Ljubljana marshes is equally remarkable. That wheel, estimated to be about 5,200 years old, was part of a two-wheeled cart, showcasing the advanced craftsmanship of that era. Thanks for sharing these important details!

I was there in 2000. My niece got married at the church on Lake Bled. Her wedding was on TLC's A Wedding Story. Speaking of skeletons, there are relics under the floor under where you stand to ring the bell. A bit of trivia, the week of the wedding was also the week Donald Trump came to Slovenia to meet Melania's family. The wedding was bigger news because my niece's husband was a hockey player, and they had just won the championship. Then there was the filming crew. Both were front page news, but the wedding definitely the headline news. The steps up to the church number 99. Grooms have to carry their brides to the top. It looks like they have repaired the steps. They were pretty scary!

Wow, that's an incredible story! It's fascinating to hear about your personal connection to Lake Bled and the surrounding area. The wedding on TLC sounds like a truly unforgettable event! The history of the church and the legend about the skeletons add an intriguing layer to its allure. It's amazing how places can hold such rich histories. And the story about Donald Trump's visit is definitely a unique piece of Slovenian trivia! It's unfortunate that the steps have been repaired, as they added a touch of adventure to the experience. But I'm glad to hear the church is still in good condition. Have you had a chance to explore other parts of Slovenia? I'd love to hear more about your experiences and recommendations! Thaks for your comment !

@nationsoftheworld we went to Predjama, and tried to find the Lippizaner horses the day we went to the castle. But the drive to the horses ended up being too far. We got to tour Llubiana with a guide who is reserved for high profile guests. At that time the last high profile guest she had was Chelsea Clinton. We didn't get to tour much of the other places because of the wedding. But it was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

@@1458theresa What an amazing experience! Predjama is such a unique spot with the castle built into the cave. Touring Ljubljana with a guide for high-profile guests - what an honor! 😋 It's a shame you missed the Lipica Stud Farm. Even though the wedding took up most of your time, it sounds like you had an unforgettable trip. I've explored a lot of countries so far, and I'm excited to keep discovering and sharing more incredible places like Slovenia. Thanks for sharing your story!

A bit of a puff piece, but well done and entertaining. Okay,the decision to pan over a human skeleton while relating a children's folk tale was questionable, but the bros Grimm would have approved. Thanks!
