I used to get the most delicious liver & onions at an Irish restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. It was super tender! I think the recipe was close to this, except they may have used beef liver. I'm going to try this out! P.S. Here we pronounce Worcestershire sauce as "What's this here" sauce. 🙂

Do you just fry the bacon without any oil/butter then?
@BIGOGGIEWORLD10 ай бұрын
If it’s good quality bacon then yes dry fry it and the fat from that helps the flavour when you fry the onions next. However if you wish you can do so.

I want to try the crock pot, because it, is so hot in my house from this season, and….I do not want to add any heat to my kitchen!❤.. …I will sear my liver in the bacon grease first though.( which I do outside on my “relaxing in the summer” with fans” and a natural cool breeze, screened in Porch. … I remember my grandma in the country’s “summer kitchen”. But I only have a hot plate out there, for boiling cabbage or doing fish… …the smell gets blown away by the breeze 😂❤ … Wish me luck!😊

Why did she put it in the slow cooker after she had everything cooked? 😂
@BIGOGGIEWORLD2 ай бұрын
It wasn’t cooked it was literally just coloured and warmed through to give it a kick start in the slow cooker and give it more colour. Slow cookers don’t brown anything x

Seems a very long winded way of doing it. Why bother with any of the frying ? I simply dump all the raw ingredients straight into the slow cooker 4 hours later its all cooked. With the flour and seasoning I also crumble in an Oxo cube.
@BIGOGGIEWORLD5 ай бұрын
There is nothing wrong with the way you cook yours. However whilst I appreciate that ours takes a little bit longer to put together it does a few things. Helps get the ingredients to a decent heat before placing on the slow cooker, therefore helping everything get started quicker. Also it gives colour to the dish as well as adding a little more depth of flavour. The oxo cube may indeed compensate for that by adding a meaty flavour on top of your dish.

U are using a fry pan really where the slow cooker
@BIGOGGIEWORLD Жыл бұрын
We are following the recipe from the tesco magazine so maybe ask them lol. Although for us we find that slow cookers tend to make everything a little bland looking so part cooking things first gives you a better colour. And brings out some of the flavours. This recipe is a bit like when you pan fry a piece of chicken but then put it in an oven to finish off and actually cook through. So with this recipe it’s very much, start everything off and then allow the slow cooker to do its thing after. Tenderising and bringing all the flavours together
