Slow Cooker Tater Tot Casserole

SLOW COOKER TATER TOT CASSEROLE
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. ground beef
1 small onion diced
salt and pepper to taste
32 oz. bag tater tots
1/2 cup milk
2 10.5 oz. cream of mushroom soup
2 14.5 oz. cans green beans, drained (or 1 small bag frozen)
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
SLOW COOKER SIZE:
6-quart or larger
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a large skillet set over medium high heat add the ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is brown. Drain fat.
Add the cream of mushroom soup and milk to the pan with the beef. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir.
Add half of the tater tots to the slow cooker, spread them out to an even layer. Add the green beans next. Then the rest of the tater tots. Pour over the beef mixture. Spinkle over the cheese.
Cover and cook on LOW for 5 hours without opening the lid during the cooking time. Serve and enjoy!

It was fantastic! I gave some to my buddy at work to try, and he said it was really good. My father in law had some as well, he too said it was really good and was looking for more! I'll be making this one more often, I brown bag it for lunch. This is great to microwave the next day at my job as well!

IMO it would be very good. I have made this using cream of chicken, cream of onion, and cream of bacon, depending on what I had on hand. They all turned out great! I make this quite often! I hope you enjoy it, too!

Cream of celery is always a great substitute for cream of mushroom. I know because my brother won't eat mushrooms. LOL

Yes, It's made by PAM, still has some chemicals in it, that's the downside.

Hello, My slow cooker only has a low setting of 8 and 10 hours and a high setting of 4 and 6 hours. If I choose the 8 hour low setting and stop it after 5 hours, will it have fully cooked?What might you suggest for cooking this recipe?

Hi James. Yes. You have to set your own timer. It will cook up great. I used to have that slow cooker.

No! The tots disintegrated. Make it in the oven with tots on top.

Tots need to be crispy. It would be cheaper to use regular shredded potatoes.

You can but they are very blah tasting. I'd add a little seasoning to them.

Why must you always put cheese with potatoes? Potatoes are beautiful and delicious in their own right. Cheese does not belong in mashed potatoes, although butter and a splash of milk do. Cheese does not belong with tater tots. Sour cream goes on a baked potato. But why ruin potatoes with cheese?

Making like that my guess is that the tater tots would be very soggy which I wouldn't like.
