Keenly, very keenly so, I love the Weave Actions especially because I love the continuity advanced steps in Slow Fox. I can even "overturn" such weaves in Open Style competition, which I love so much in the Foxtrot. In American Foxtrot, I love doing those grapevines - this is what Fred Astaire would have loved so much.

Excellent !! Can you please provide me with the artist/title of music you use for both the Basic and Advanced? The provided information can't be found on Spotify Premium? Ideas? Thanks so much...

Sure! I have updated in the Description for the Advanced foxtrot. The basic is Blackpool dance music. Search for Empress Orchestra and Blackpool Dance Festival as its off a very old CD.

Beautiful sequence! Just noting though: The first time you time it (at 2.16) you miss an extra Slow for the swivel, and you also miss a QQS at the end. This is when I compare it with your timing at (4.01). Gosh, isn't the timing for Slow foxtrot tricky?! Thanks for a great demo.

Pam Mazoyer hi Pam! There are two versions here both are different. At 2:16 there is no swivel at all as it’s the Basic version, and QQS doesn’t exist at all and is incorrect timing for a Natural turn (heel pull ending) it’s SSS. At 4:01 it’s the Advanced version so completely different steps. All steps and figure in accordance with The Ballroom Technique by Alex Moore. Thank you for writing in and hope it helps

Hi Vaughan - in the advanced version, after the cross-swivel you do another feather step - what direction are you facing? Are you diagonal to centre? i.e. after the cross-swivel you do a quarter turn? Thanks!

You seem to be dancing to different than the soundtrack. You feet are never in time to the music.

This has long puzzled me too. The basic "slow, slow, quick, quick," in time to the music, is so often missing from so very many dancers that I see, and is replaced by a very free style that does seem at odds with the music. Yet this free style seems quite popular. I would welcome an explanation! Are these two very different "foxtrots"? Do they have names? When would one choose the one or the other?
