Just finished making a drag chain per your instructions. Can’t wait to drop in and test out this weekend 👍

That’s awesome. I made another one a couple months back I’ve been using a different kayak, so I’m making the setup modular so I can switch it from one kayak to another. What kind of kayak are you using it on?
@pacoletriveroutfitterstoo93853 жыл бұрын
@@greatamericansurvival I have several different kayaks and would live to make it easy to move too. I’m putting on my Hobie Passport 12.0 first. I use it in the big River paddle only. Please post it when you make it movable 👍

I use that same system for a twelve valco boat. The only difference is I use three pieces of chain two feet long. I fish the delta Which can move pretty fast and it holds me rock solid. The beauty of it is it doesn't get hung up very often and when it does it usually comes right out.

Love this video. I also fish the Hooch! I am setting up my drag anchor for a kayak and using this video as a guide. Any thoughts on the Anchor Wizard Low profile to drop the Drag anchor?
@greatamericansurvival3 жыл бұрын
I’ve actually done a video on the anchor wizard. Mine is done as a modular system so I can use it on multiple kayaks. It works well so far just not on rivers. I use a down rigger weight for my anchor. What kind of kayak are you using?

Why do you need the rubber tube for?
@greatamericansurvival3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking time to comment. The tube Makes the chain less likely to get snagged on stuff.

How much unseen damage does the dragging chain do to the river bed and potential river grasses etc I wonder? Maybe once 10, 20 , 50 fishers using this method pass through an area they might or could then do some major damage(?) to the sea / river beds which is habitat and breeding areas or nursery areas. Just food for thought 😎
@uphomes12 Жыл бұрын
im sure there plenty enough bed for them, and i doubt theres many kayakers doing this to the point that the natural ecosystem would be ruined

Mate you pollute the world way more with trash then the drag anchor would ever be able to destroy.. food for thought!!!

How much do you think it weighs
@greatamericansurvival3 жыл бұрын
Mine are just under 16 inches and weigh just under 2 pounds for each section of chain. Works very well on rivers to drag. When your fishing ponds and lakes it will hold you in place unless it’s really winder.
@andrewsmith9413 жыл бұрын
@@greatamericansurvival are you saying each sixteen section weighs 2lbs or both of them together. I am very interested in this.

Great idea!! Could you tell me what size chain you used? Is it 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, or bigger? Best wishes from UK
@greatamericansurvival4 жыл бұрын
I actually used 3/8 inch chain so close to 10mm. What part of the UK? I spent some time there in the 90’s. Travelled around Europe for around 3 months it was amazing.
@anthonypowell14574 жыл бұрын
Great American Survival Thanks for that. I actually live in a place called Beckenham, about ten miles outside of central London. I have a Klepper Arius 2 which the wife and I will be paddling the river Medway which flows through the county of Kent in southern England. Regards Tony

Remember,use a dollar store screwdriver, as heating it will ruin your tool.
