Excellent slow tv, we are enjoying this very much. We notice that you are very good at adopting “tickover” when passing another Narrowboat and are aware that it is recommended practice. In your experience what would you estimate though as the percentage of others who adopt this practice routinely?

Thank you. Most boaters drop the revs but many of them don't do it until they reach the moored boat. They resume normal speed as soon as they get to the other end of the moored boat. This is merely dropping the revs and not slowing down at all - a token gesture. They should drop revs well in advance of passing a moored boat so that their boat actually has time to slow down. It happens all the time.

Phil, can you tell me where is the longest stretch of canal in the UK without locks? I'd guess it's one of those early contour canals. Do you know it...snd if so is it a nice quiet canal. ..or a busy industrial part. I suppose I'm also asking, which is your favourite canal section.. Which I'm equally sure you've been asked about a million times already. These slow TV vlogs are total lockdown antidotes. Thanks

I don't know which is the longest lock free stretch? But a large part of the Shropshire Union canal is lovely. Also the Ashby canal is completely lock free. Both are very rural and quiet.

@@MagicaLucem Lancaster Canal has no locks. You can moor near the beach near Morecambe too.
