Bro , thanks you guy I have been waiting for this style of tutorial from you all , some people don’t have the time to watch the live stream so this style of video makes your knowledge accessible for some of us again thank you again and hope to see many more

Insane value in this tutorial, thank you for showing the palett cam when you were getting the glaze diluted with water!

I think that this is by far the best skin painting tutorial I have seen around. The purple shadows add so much interest to it.

Thanks! Glad you like it!

That was a great tutorial! I've seen so many short videos of people doing the under painting thing, and then it cuts to a finished face. Watching that glaze go down just made my brain click some puzzle pieces together.
@MonumentHobbies23 күн бұрын
Awesome! Yeah, we don't believe in the whole "jump to finished" with the "look how easy it is" approach! :D

This is the best program I have ever seen about Pro. The editing of this episode is very good, without the boring and lengthy live broadcast.Moreover, it is more detailed than short videos.The color chart added this time also provides a good explanation.If you continue to do, there will definitely be more fans following you and your product.Come on, good luck to you.

I mean the streams are good, I don’t find them boring personally but at the same time, i do like this format, better than hunting down an old stream where they show this off.

Great tutorial, I’ve seen the green monotone technique for painting portraits, this really builds on it.

At the end of the undertone section, the model is looking like The Ultimate Warrior or a bad guy in an 80s cartoon

Love this new direction! I always tune in to the streams but appreciate this format!

Very impressive! It's one thing to know in theory that skin is comprised of different "non-flesh" colors, but a real revelation to actually see this working in process.

Hey I've seen this guy before

Great stuff! I took a bunch of screenshots of different stages of the paint job and can't wait to try this out. 2 questions: How would you have underpainted the jawline if the model had no beard? And how would your approach change for a female face that's smoother and less craggy? Thanks!
@jasoncraze440317 күн бұрын
Awesome! If no beard, let the red take up a bit more space down the cheek and then use the purple down toward the chin line and under the throat area. For females you can use a darker green (like our Dark Yellow Green) in place of the purple, as they don't have the same facial hair and such.
@chirotastic250217 күн бұрын
Thank you! That's really helpful!

Amazing tutorial, I can't wait to try it out. Would the same techniques hold if I wanted to do fairer or darker skin?
@MonumentHobbies21 күн бұрын
Yep! Works the same with just about any skin color! As you go darker, you'll notice that you cover more of the under tones, so you'll want to glaze a bit of them back in at the end if needed.
@Wadlo15123 күн бұрын
This is ridiculously amazing. Where did you learn that putting purples and greens under flesh makes it work?
@MonumentHobbies23 күн бұрын
It's something we've been teaching for years, but has existed for centuries in different forms. Using various colors to represent the bases tones of skin like greens, blues, etc. will make it look more "alive", since skin is actually transluscent and we can see veins / fat / etc. through it. Just pick some colors that you think represent the blood and guts that would be under the skin and you can do some awesome stuff with even alien tones.

@@MonumentHobbies I've got one of the texture trainers, the man with the gun, I'm definitely trying this tomorrow
@rescuecan24 күн бұрын
This was an awesome watch! How would you adapt this process for darker skin colours, like those typically found in Africa, and the Middle East?
@MonumentHobbies24 күн бұрын
The darker you go, the less of your undercoat colors will show through, so it becomes necessary to glaze some of them back over the top later in the process. You'd still use similar colors, but start brighter with the red especially.
@rescuecan24 күн бұрын
@@MonumentHobbies Awesome thank you! I'll give it a shot on my next model.
@EmersonSecondary25 күн бұрын
This is incredible! Does this work for smaller minis like on the face of a marine?
@MonumentHobbies25 күн бұрын
It does! For smaller minis, you typically do the purple/blue as a band at the chin level under the nose, then the red across the eyes to the ears, and the green on the forehead. Makes it simple and you can dial it in as you like.
@frugal1019124 күн бұрын
How would you adjust this technique if you wanted to do a light coming in from a specific direction? Do you just move the underpainting colours around? Or is it more complex as things like the flush to the cheeks will always be in the same place?
@MonumentHobbies24 күн бұрын
Yes! This stage just sets the basis for the skin tone. We'll adjust lighting in the later stages, after we get all the armor figured out. If you already know your light angles, then you can definitely adjust the Bright Yellow Green to be more located toward that. The reds and purples will also adjust, but not quite as much as the highlight.
@Ynffy22 күн бұрын
Have you tried this with oil paints? Since it's a subtractive way of working you could glaze from the light green undertone to the shadows.
@MonumentHobbies22 күн бұрын
Yep! We would start with the red and then blend toward the purple and green out of that, since it's a central "tie-in" color. Then glazing over once you're cured with the skin tone. That's the only real issue with this type of glazing in oils - the under layer needs plenty of time to cure. Your best method in oil is to just blend these colors in to your flesh tones as you go.
@Ynffy22 күн бұрын
@@MonumentHobbies Cool! I'll try that. I'll try both acrylics and oils as undertones.
