How do you establish rapport with your clients as an SLPA?
@KarinaKurlz3 жыл бұрын
Since they’re students, I usually spend the 1st session introducing myself and what we’ll do in speech therapy. If they’re older students, I like to talk about their speech goals and discuss exactly what I’m there to help them with.

Loved watching this because I’m not sure if I want to stop at my bachelors to work as a school based SLPA or keep going to get my masters 😭

I always consider going back as well. Still don’t have an answer, but I know I’m happy exactly where I’m at!

Loyal subscriber 🥺💕 I’m binge watching your videos rn. I just graduated back in august but I just applied to my first potential SLPA job, hopefully I get it. Your videos are teaching me a lot and are so inspiring. I also love seeing your personal life. Nobody talks about slp work and being a mom and days in the life as being both I love that you do! 💖💖💖

This is awesome. I’m an ABA transitioning into the SLP world. I’m from NY but there are no opportunities to be an SLPA here. I’m deciding if I want to relocate or just work as a teacher while I get my masters in NY. Thank you for sharing all of this!

That’s awesome! I think there’s lots of things from the ABA world that’ll be handy in this new field.

My mom says I have been “Fighting my calling” for years now lol my minor is Communication Disorders and you’ve definitely inspired me to go back for a second Bachelors in Speech Path ♥️

It’s such a rewarding career! I think if you were able to complete a minor, there’s definitely something you loved about it. Go for it girl!! ❤️

How’s your communication with the speech pathologist, does she give you the activities and what to shoot for, or leaves it up to you to come up with everything. What are good sites that give good ideas on activities. I am in my last semester of undergrad about to graduate and decided to take this route to hopefully become an slpa for now and very nervous. Your videos are very helpful, love them!

I’m glad they’re helping! :) My supervising SLP doesn’t give me activities to do. She gives me the goals and will occasionally suggest an activity that may work with a group, or share one of her activities that she’s created and/or bought. Teachers pay teachers has lots of minimal prep worksheets! Another site, Quia, has a lot of speech and language activities and questions to consider. If you’re looking for activities online I know there’s Boom Cards online too!
