SLUGGER - M36 Jackson in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The M36 GMC in War Thunder is a US Tank Destroyer that's lovingly referred to as the Jackson Slugger! That's because it has a 90mm cannon!
The M36 Jackson in War Thunder is based on the M10 Wolverine Chassis with some very distinct upgrades. It's pretty quick, pretty nimble and packs a punch... literally.
The US 90mm gun is one of those cannons that seems to work when it shouldn't but absolutely epic fails when it should. Volumetric shells has played a big part on this girthy shell managing to cause problems. However, you can still go through Panthers sides at the most ridiculous angles.
The M36 Slugger is overshadowed by the M18 and unfortunately due to BR changes, it really doesn't have a line up of reliable Medium Tanks either. Poor Jackson! :(

Packet Loss Thunder has been atrocious for months. Cannot play opposite hemisphere servers, period, and then one of the two remaining acts like the fkdest arse as well 50+% of the time. The chat bar has been MASSIVELY out of sync for the past fortnight. Click on the map, the marker circle blinks... a min later the line pops up in chat.

Don't know why, but I like the M36 much more than the M18(it feels much slower than it was). Maybe because I don't overpush and get swarmed by the entire enemy team. Also the APCR work well against the Tiger IIs when you get uptiered, because of the ready rack in the back of the Tiger's turret. I see why you like the Hellcat more, but this tank is one of my favourites.

I feel you. I tend to over extend when I have a fast tank (aka Cromwell). A medium speed tank helps me to be play more carefully haha.

Adam Rousek. I also Love the M36 Slugger. And yes it couldn't as Fast as the M18 Hellcat but still, the M36 Slugger was still pretty fast. As its Max Speed is 30mph. And it was Made in Good numbers and was Reliable and quite Deadly. As its 90mm Gun killed lots of german tanks. I Love both the M18Hellcat and the M36 Slugger. They both were really Great German tank Killer's. The M18Hellcat had a higher Kill count then the M36 Slugger but the M36 Slugger and M18 Hellcat were both Great for America's Military to have in its Arsenal and they were a big help in crushing nazi germany...

The M36 definitely has the same feel to its mobility to the PT-76; in the sense that, while it isn't particularly fast, it can accelerate pretty quickly and reach its top speed most of the time.

This was a very fun lineup, the US 5.7, with the M18, the Slugger, the T20, and some great planes to use...but then Guyjiggles bumped the T20 to 6.0 for "reasons" even though it does not have great armor, it only has a 76MM gun, and it is practically worthless against 7.0 tanks in an up-BR match. Sigh...

I actually enjoy playing the Jackson, however, youre right Odd, i wouldnt take it out before the m18. i usually take both m18s at 5.7 and the Jackson, but the m36 is usually my backup. also, you were close at the end! i think you could have landed it for sure, you just got gaijined lol.

Sorry to burst your bubble... We don't have the M36 Slugger in the game. It has a different hull than the Jackson... Pretty much the only difference is the hull is difference and the armor, the Slugger has the M10A1 hull, which has better armor than the M10 hull.

I see so many KZbinrs using the AD-2 when it only gets a few bombs and rockets whereas the AM-1 is the same BR, with a ton of decent bomb drops and kill potential. It would be nice to see a video on it
