Sammy "This team never learns, I've been watching for 8 years and nothing changes" *Continues to watch, never learning*

When a team of sports professionals plays with such complacency, it's clear that the heart has left the room. Multi-millionaires floating & trying to make pretty plays for the highlight reels. No grit, no workman style of play, now guys are getting injured in practice... almost poetic to how the slump could become a sheer freefall.

It seems the leafs were alot more rugged and were hitting more often at the beginning of the year. It seems like they are the same leafs of last year.

What I find difficult to watch is Benn cheap-shotting Matthews, and not a single Leaf stepping in to respond. I get that this is the Leafs modus operandi, but I had hoped that as this core matured, they would evolve into the kind of men capable of winning a Stanley Cup. Honestly, I just don’t see it happening. None of our forwards seem willing to step up, show that killer instinct, and prove they’ll do whatever it takes to win. It’s just not in their DNA. This team will make the playoffs and look incredible in the regular season, but the way it’s built, they’re never going to win a Cup. They lack the grit and tenacity needed to go all the way. I’ll always support this team, win or lose, but it’s painful to watch them fail to stand up for each other.

No one in the dressing room cares about these results because they've been around long enough to know that all of this disappears on game one of the playoffs.

Agreed with Sammy 110% on everything he said about the past 8 years and current state of the club. I've always said the team culture is too lax and pampered, and it starts right from the top of the chain. Willie and Marner exemplify it all. Leaf Nation needs to stop going to games and hurt MLSE's bottom line. Stick it to them.

Nylander with 3 points tonight including the game winner in OT vs the Devils. Matthews with 2 goals too.

If Tavares is down 4-6 weeks it would not actually be that brutal for the Leafs as they have a light schedule the next 2 weeks and then they are off for another two weeks for the four nations tournament.

Was Berube warned not to behave in a way to hurt sensitive players? I will say, I don't understand how you guys talk about benching a player beingva solution? Benching only hurts the team. Providing more time gives players greater opportunities to come back. The coaching change should be who can teach these players how to play. What strategies to use. Point out the problems and what can be the solutions. In terms of the lack inspiration by the players might fall on incentives. There us no incentives to do better. I think the problem is salaries (contracts). I think it would be different if players get paid for their performance (performance based salary). Contracts should have a base salary, performance added to it, a healthy pension regardless of performance. Taxes might be a big problem as you see with Tarvaris CRA issues.

I was preaching on social media when they announced Lalonde's hiring that he wasn't the guy for the job. Zero NHL head coaching experience is NOT the guy you hire during a rebuild. He was Yzerman's friend from Tampa, that's the only reason he got the job. Not because he had NHL head coaching success.

I think that's a bigger issue then people realize. No vets can tell these kids what's up and how to play..its pretty obvious and it's been tried. Look how many vets they have signed to try to teach them how to win in the playoffs..it never works the core 4 is weak.

Kypreos hammering Willie again. I guess it’s Nylanders fault that Marner only has 14 goals. Kypreos hyping Marner for 14 million a year. He’s barely a 20 goal a season scorer.

As good as matthews, marner, nylander are, they’re also equally soft. They care and know more about fashion and comfort and jewellery than grinding, hitting and winning.

It’s the same 4 core , what do you expect? Get rid of two of them! John and Marner and Morgan need to go and have 30 million to spend on new players and a culture change. What can you get for 30 million?

The Leafs had Stolarz to back stop them to wins they had to right winning. Now that it's a shaky Woll & whoever the 3rd string will be, it's really more or less a crap shoot. So maybe the team's confidence levels are dwindling because they aren't scoring like they were the last few years.

There is a white elephant in the room . It is Woll increasingly plays like a goalie who is average at best .
@davidmorris62548 күн бұрын
Didn't Valiquette come onto the show just last episode and explain how Woll has been one of the most consistently great goalies this year who has kept the same level of play all through the year, and showed stats to back it up?
@Gum_Cuzzler8 күн бұрын
Woll is great when he’s on, but I have questions about his consistency. He lost the net to Sammy going into the playoffs last season too. There does seem to be lulls in his game

Jesus Christ Kyper, stop with the Willy is making 11.5. He's in year two of his new contract. Marner has been making 10 for how many years? What they want and their perception of how they should be perceived in the league are very different in each of their eyes. There's a reason why their negotiations are completely different. They need to be held accountable, absolutely. But the money is an old excuse, especially when the God of Toronto has been grossly overpaid for years. Both comments by the players were tone deaf. If theirs one guy who needs to be vocal and animated its the new captain. Team plays as if JT is cap
@marcob68808 күн бұрын
I don't get that with all the regular season success and folding like a cheap suitcase in the playoffs, that this guy thinks, no BELIEVES he should be the leagues highest paid player. Dubas continually kissed this guy's arse so long and hard he created a problem for anyone who tries coaching the team. It's time to start thinking about moving him!
