It really does, I think it's impressive how much the Sly game haven't aged a lot. I was playing Thieves in Time the other day on a 4K TV and it looked surprisingly good

The only time the game doesn't look good is when it zooms on other characters faces. Then you can see the jank in their facial animations that 2 and 3 did a whole lot better

Omg I feel so dumb I thought the title implied that you were going to go through the anti-piracy measures in the first Sly Cooper, Sly 2 Band of Thieves, Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, and whatever Sly 5 and Sly 6 would be. Interesting video nonetheless. Makes me wonder if the studio genuinely thought tons of pirates were looking to illegally distribute the game. I know that most studios are largely interested in protecting the first few weeks of sales from being ruined by piracy, but I think it'd be strange if hackers were seriously focused on pirating Sly Cooper over something like GTA.

Well, I learned something new today about a game i basically know my whole life! The funniest thing to me is how sneaky Sucker Punch was with this measurements, especially the time triggered ones. It really makes you feel like "what is going on??? Everything was fine and I just had fun, why is it ruined now?" instead of straight up pushing a notification which says "you're a thief - you may play one in this game but NOT becoming one yourself" 😂

I was in livestream yesterday with accidentally caugh by antipiracy measures. He didn't do that on purpose though because he didn't know, he just got modded version of the game and the game didn't recognize the code of the game anymore so it put antipiracy mode on

I know this goes beyond what the video covers, but were these measures even necessary? With digital distribution, piracy is much more rampant these days. But then? I can’t see too many people itching to make illegal copies of Sly Cooper for the PS2.

Well yeah, people would try to make copies and sell them. If they weren't 1:1 then this will happen. Modded consoles were a lot more common than you seem to think.

That happened tonme when i tried to put sly 1 on a harddrive and ssd on my freemc boot soft modded ps2. I didnt know it was a piracy situation. I rather play my games from the drive and persevere my discs. My fix though was to simply play on my gaming laptop 🤷‍♂️

@CalNotNice opl has a series of compatibility modes, you might need to enable a few to make a game playable

Is there a way to play this in backup copy without this happening? I got the iso from my original disk because the disk has a lot of scratches to the point it barely plays at all. Wanting to know if there’s another way with playing the legitimate console.

This won't affect most people. This would mostly be for bootleg copies from back in the day but you're probably fine to play whatever ISO you happen to find/make without this stuff happening.

On the OPL, even if you check mode 6 WITH another mode, like mode 4 for skipping videos, the anti piracy measures overides mode 6 and fks you game

It was while making changes to the game that I triggered it (and people were talking about it too), the game seemed broken in several places and I wanted to know why, then i found out it was intentional🙂

If the game finds a difference in the code, I'm unsure if the emulation can cause it

Ahh the irony. This now happens to me when I try play my legit copy in PCSX2 but nobody else seemed to have the problem because they're all using pirated downloads. Similar issue with the original Spyro.
