It is the future because in 1974 no one would be able to comprehend the progression of civil rights, technology, or movie production and how it would be. At the time people may believe the fact that we could have a computer in our hands, but not fully understand the experience of it and what we are capable oft doing with it.

@@regidon793 Sly was on the money with Ali. I dig Ali in many ways but he had an ugly side as well (the way he talked to other boxers - for example calling Frazier an Ape ). On that show, Sly called him out and when Ali put his finger in Sky’s face, he told him straight out to get his finger out of his face. When Ali was being strung along by the Nation of Islam talking dangerous generalizations about all white people, Sly was inclusive with his band, audience and music talking don’t hate the black - don’t hate the white - if you get bitten just hate the bite. Sly stay true to this message to this day. Ali wisely transitioned once he stopped being a follower and decided to lead his own life. I love em both, but at this point in time - Sly was the real deal

I wouldn’t say he predicted the Black Panther movie this is completely misleading. I do love his idea he had for his movie and how it could be considered him predicting The Black Panther movie! But it was just a matter of time before Black Panther was made. I mean it’s a Marvel movie. Panther has been around since before I was a kid. Can’t give him credit for something he didn’t do.

William Bell Sly got some spiritual depth... which brings the wisdom he shows in the answers to the questions...

William Bell, don't try to steal the thunder of what the poster meant. The poster was suggesting that Sly was way ahead of his time. The thoughts expressed by Sly paralleled those which were espoused in the film. The overarching take away from Black Panther was that the more advanced Wakandans were not bent on world domination and hatred the way the "colonizers" were (and are).

if you watch all the shows sly did on mike douglas, he did a lot of predictions that came true. i watched all them in 2013 and sly was ON POINT. he predicted a black president in 2009. he said that he wanted to be a living legend. and he is a legend that is still living. some men asked him or sort of hinted to him how he was handling his money. he defended himself but he did end up broke the way they hinted that he would. someone needs to do an analogy of all of sly stone's old interviews. his mind was way ahead of him. a very wise man. it's eerie how what he said came true. from the 1970s. look into his old interviews. i think he was being guided by a spirit. i think he would have been much more amazing and would have gotten way more credit if it wasn't for his drug addiction problem. a genius gone to waste. but lived to tell about it. it gets no better.

Regardless of whatever movie may be closest to this description, it can't be said that he "predicted" anything, because he described his premise on national television. Any movie made after that time resembling what he said could have been influenced by what he said. You'd have to ask the writer of White Man's Burden if he ever saw this interview or talked about the concept with anyone who may have seen it.
