I found that the versions of this video currently on KZbin did not have very good quality, and this one looks better, so I decided to share. Besides, the legend deserves to be viewed in HQ.

He booked this wonderful magician simply to preserve for future generations to enjoy. Dick Cavett really understood the importance of archives
@ltravail2 жыл бұрын
This is one of the great preservations for the archives from the 20th century. We owe a debt to Dick Cavett's foresight in recording and preserving this legendary magician for those of us in the 21st century who were not around to see him when he was alive.

Hoping not to sound too corny, but he's truly "a magician"; where DECADES of technique render a trick so amazing, even if you learn "how" he did it, you couldn't reproduce it any time soon.

As a kid back in the late 70s early 80s, my magician/idol Slydini magically appears walking down the street at our grade school street festival Bleecker/Carmine Little Italy, New York city. One of those memories as fresh as if it was yesterday. A gentleman in real life as well.

Best ever rope trickery. Hankerchiefs so smooth. I really love Slydini. Do you know what the date of this is? He was born in 1901 so I'm wondering how old he is here. Thanks very much for the upload. :) Edit: Just seen the credits - 1977. That means Slydini was 76 years old here. Amazing.

I had an opportunity of meeting and sitting through a magic lecture with Slydini in 1976 in Miami ,FL. ( Ring #45 I.B.M. past Member) Amazing man, lecturer, mentor to many magicians. I still proudly own a pair of Slydini handkerchiefs. ( as used in the video) So cool to find a memory and performance here on KZbin. 🪄 👍🏼

In spring 1976 I saw a magician perform the newspaper trick. I was sitting at the extreme right, and I could see the torn-up pages that he was concealing within the newspaper. He was very good, but not nearly as good as Slydini. This is just beautiful.

For people who didn't grow up with newspapers, they have a vertical "grain"; the fibers ran vertically, so they were very easy to rip (and a good crease helped too). Ripping them horizontally was a disaster if you wanted to keep a straight edge 😂

Destruiram a arte. Esses videos nos fazem lembrar do tempo em que a magica sinda encantava! Muito bom! ,

Understand that when he performed the trick with the lady. He had the tobacco in his hand. You can see him glancing at his lap. Finding a cigarette. There is non. Then he uses the distraction of the cigarette box saying there isnt one in there. But he snags one for the rest of the trick. My life is great😂

Everyone must die once. Then they are judged. Hebrews 9:27 ERV But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us. Romans 5:8 ERV Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life. John 3:16 ERV Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 ERV Jesus answered, "Believe me when I say that everyone must be born from water and the Spirit. Anyone who is not born from water and the Spirit cannot enter God's kingdom. John 3:5 ERV The true children of God are those who let God's Spirit lead them. Romans 8:14 ERV Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life. But those who do not obey the Son will never have that life. They cannot get away from God's anger. John 3:36 ERV If you think you can fool God, you are only fooling yourselves. You will harvest what you plant. Galatians 6:7 ERV If we decide to continue sinning after we have learned the truth, then there is no other sacrifice that will take away sins. Hebrews 10:26 ERV You can enter true life only through the narrow gate. The gate to hell is very wide, and there is plenty of room on the road that leads there. Many people go that way. But the gate that opens the way to true life is narrow. And the road that leads there is hard to follow. Only a few people find it. Matthew 7:13-14 ERV No one has ever seen, no one has ever heard, no one has ever imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 ERV

God Dick Cavett is the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@thasdavin81343 жыл бұрын
Why?
@greg556663 жыл бұрын
@@thasdavin8134 He has this way of trying to be cool with the guests that is completely fake. You know during the '70s, there were cool people, and then there were all the square people who were trying hard to fit in with the cool ones. Dick Cavett is the absolute worst example of the latter.

@@greg55666 Disagree. He's overly verbose, but I say he's earnest about who and what he likes. He's no worse than any other person who introduces someone they clearly like and revere. And even if you dislike him, can you deny the quality and variety of his guests? He puts other hosts to shame.
