I am a first time DM. My party came across the dragon first, spoke with him and only had their lives spared because of the Dragonborn in the party who negotiated their escape. The dragon threatened them to never return, but upon meeting Reidoth they realized that is exactly what he wanted them to do in order to reveal the location of Wave Echo Cave. The party developed a plan and the Dragonborn approached the dragon once more solo and offered to find a new home for the dragon to appease the druid and also guarantee a home for Venomfang. Only they story they told the dragon was a lie, but it worked! The encounter ended with Venomfang hesitantly trusting them and leaving them for the location they promised was a home, with lots of abandoned riches. Venomfang let them know he would certainly return if they had misled him. I mean you can't write this stuff!!! The looming threat of Venomfang returning for vengeance is way more interesting than them fighting him. I love being a DM and your content is great, thanks for all you do Sly!

Me and my mates nearly got smoked by the dragon. The monk thought we could fight it, I didn't want to but when he aggroed I ran all the way back. Then it was dragons turn and we got downed instantly. Only avoided the tpk because the last guy made an ice wall to distract it then dragged our guys into the forest cover. I think the gm was feeling generous at that point so didn't get carpet bombed

In my adventure I had Reidoth be kidnaped by the cult, and a doppelgänger took his place and tried to set up a trap for them sending them to the tower.

me and my group just offered venom fang cragmaw castle if it leaves thundertree, which worked because castle.

what I'd like to do is to make sure the pcs don't get into thunder tree at first, but have them come back later when they are stronger, maybe after chapter 4 so that they ca use all their new cool abilities fighting a dragon, and also because he could be used to tie the party to more adventures if you want to continue using those characthers

The only time I played this adventure, we ended up going into the mountains to take care of the Orcs. The final encounter up there was a ogre that was dumb as rocks and he had an orc handler to direct him. Meanwhile, I was playing a gloomstalker ranger and rolled a nat 20 to take out the handler in one shot before the ogre could even react. after we took out every other orc in the area, I tried to befriend the ogre and make him my friend. Rolled a nat 19 but my DM wouldn't allow it, so disappointing.

This was my first ever campaing, and I was the DM voor a group of new players (all friends of mine). I TPK't the whole party with Fenomfang. Whoops.. ;/. Now they are all scared of dragons

Nice videos. Could you advise me on how to integrate this with the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, since players will finish Phandelver in level 5, and the Tyranny of Dragons starts at level 1. I'm a really new DM and player. No precious experience. I'm running the campaign as DM for the first time and I think players will want to continue with their chars.

Hey man!, nice video, i just wanted to ask you a question. To connect this module with the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, you would just continue the adventure there, you would make a completely new adventure with no interconnection between characters or what would you do in this asspect. Thanks

Party druid + old man druid = Pass Without Trace and multiple Protection vs Poisons at 3rd level. Surprise dragon, waste breath, dead dragon 3 rounds later. Profit. 👌
