While they still have other groups that are successful, they don't generate as much income as H.O.T. did. Also, most of the first-generation groups had disbanded or were on the verge of disbandment because their contracts were about to expire. BoA was contacted by SM when she won in a dance competition. At 13 years old, she debuted and was so successful that SM gambled and took BoA to the Japan to just try if they can penetrate through the Japanese market. BoA gained massive success and her popularity translated back to the Korean market as well, establishing the then teenager as the sole breadwinner of SM, prior to TVXQ getting their big break. BoA's success lead to the debut of TVXQ and SJ. She saved SM and became the reason for the Kpop's entrance to the Japanese market.

A dog is nonjana (puppy) and a cat is katana (kitten)..even when they're older those name stick.
