Honestly, I had a working theory that after the events of the Blue Terror, where Gonzo knocks Jack out, he suffered from some kind of concussion or something that has slowly broken down his brain over time! Considering the fact that in his earlier appearances like the original Mario Meets Jack Skellington, before it was overdubbed, and the Cute Mario Bros. Movie, he was actually intelligent, but after the Blue Terror he began to act like he is now! But hey, the Peter Pan ride thing makes sense too I suppose! XD
