Easy: Chilla is exhausting to listen to. He’s lyrically dense and his flow follows with similar complexity. He was nice here, but nowhere near as refined as he’d be even a year after this. Plus these are long ass rounds and his density/complexity leaves diminishing returns in longer rounds. DNA is lyrically basic with a basic delivery, making his shit easier to get and easier to relate to. Add that to being the veteran name in this battle, and it’s easy to see why he “won”. Hell, he had the audacity to call Chilla a clone, which plays for easy reactions, but is way off base. The two couldn’t be more different. After Verb, DNA’s stature relative to his actual skill makes the least sense to me. He’s second rate at his absolute best, but he doesn’t fit at all with most of the top tier battlers

True, he used way more schemes than what he normally does and his flow wasn't as polished as it would be later, but he put that work in. His bars was setting that stage on fire. This still one of my favorite battles from last year! Chilla rebuttal DNA last bar in the 1st round with a scheme at the beginning of the 2nd. DNA got a Don Demarco just for saying the old DNA is back. Chilla won all 3 rounds and the only close round was the 1st. What people like amazes me but I don't know how you give DNA this battle.

I agree that B-Magic outbarred Ill Will but he lost but Chilla outbarred DNA and won! Performance wise, what did DNA do that was so mesmerizing. Chlla acted out his bars I think more than DNA. People fucks with DNA energy which is cool but a lot of bars he spit in this battle just wasn't hittin! Some of the best bars he spit was in the 1st round and I think Chilla edged him that round. He had a couple of bars in the 2nd (38 below bar and the class scheme). The 3rd round the only thing that was hot was the freestyle but other than that, Thats DNA battle in a nutshell. Chilla was consistent throughout the whole battle. Im not even a Chilla fan but I don't see how DNA won this battle.

He has changed my opinion of him when I watch more of his battles because he is really good in lyrical terms. But he needs to do more power scheming to keep his rounds more compact and keep the crowd interested. Daylyt and Clips scheme more effectively in my opinion. You can see Beasley and Smack looking at him with the "Damn how are we going to market Chilla" face lol. Chilla got the 2nd round but DNA got it 2-1. DNA ended up on Nome 4 and SM4 so he definitely won the long term game too.

ppl hate on Jones's slow delivery & constant schemes, yet everyone rode conceited's dick when he first came out with nothing but "simile" punchlines & the same slow delivery for bars not NEARLY as complex as chilla's. DNA's only driving asset is his freestyle/rebuttals, which aren't as reliable given the situation (AKA ppl videotaping in the crowd & Durant |VS.| K-shine battle where he had no sick rebuttal to shine's poster & got his ass handed to him). take that away & you get the DNA when he battled Tech-9: average with nice but predictable punchlines forced down your throat. chilla's bars are always 100% lethal no matter the situation. you think you get the scheme till you revisit it & pick up shit he said before landing the punch. seeing as this was his biggest stage, he was more animated than his past battles, but if he delivered shit any faster, not even Don Demarco would know where to hit the reaction button. That being said, Chilla's bars slightly outweighs DNA's freestyle ability. then again, it's BATTLE rap, so of course people are gonna hold battle weight to 50% performance & 50% bars & would rather lines that are easy to understand, but if you ask me, being able to make people think deeply about your schemes provides for a strong performance in itself.

Battle rappers were also saying his "Slow it down" was garbage and now EVERY battle rapper uses some way to repeat their bars, whether it's the basic "I said...." or shit like Surfs subtitles. People hate on Jones constant schemes because it's not new anymore and hating on his slow delivery because he has the personality of a rock. His delivery is boring af. Also I'm not hating on his lyricism, he's definitely arguably the best lyricist in Battle Rap right now.
