2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 - First Gear - Review and Test Drive

Trying to fall in love with our Newley purchased 2017 GLE 350 4Matic. It is a little more roomier than the 2013 GLK we just traded in on it, but the GLK handled the road better. I hear 2013 models had a "special suspension" for that year only and to hold onto it as long as possible. I think all the different drive modes subtract from what felt more like direct drive. I mean I could drive a straight line further in the 2013 GLK with 130K miles on it, and felt more in control than the newer GLE with 100K less miles on it. I doubt one would notice just to drive the GLE. It does drive very nice. My only other qualm with the GLE (same engine and transmission, torque, and HP I had) is the gas pedal responsiveness from 0-10 mph is old fart. Not impressed in the least. Both hold a hill in cruise control without having to downshift in our area maintaining speed impressively, where my pick up has to downshift, and other cars lose speed around you on these hills, where the GLE just grins and "trucks on". Dave, you may've caught this since shooting this video, but you mentioned with the cruise ctrl. that it changed in 5mph increments. You can change it in 1mph increments with lighter presses on that lever. Press harder, almost a soft 2 stop like position, and 5mph changes. It will brake automatically to drop 5mph with a full push downwards on the lever. Price all the way down 3 times = 15 mph decrease and so on;) Your video was fun and entertaining, yet informative. Sorry you lost your car but I hope you're alright ;) Don't get me wrong we really like the 2017 GLE and had the absolutely BEST dealership you could ask for from internet inquiry to car REVEAL when we took ownership. None better than Germain Mercedes of Easton in Columbus, Oh. No matter what you go with, they'll fix you up and work with you until you're satisfied and after the sale as well. Best off luck!

There is an actual shade that comes over the sun roof. We tend to not use those for video lighting reasons.

LOL that 'door' to access the luggage area is a *Snow Skis Door.* In the good Olde days, they use to include a built-in bag so you don't get melting water dripping on your seats. The GLE is a decent midsized SUV, last one we had they called them the 'ML Class' and for some reason Mercedes has all their cars practically looking the same, especially the sedans...now add blurring nomenclature. _edit we're torn between the MB GLE and Audi Q7, and still debating. The Audi has better value..._

Although it is used for snow ski storage, you highlighted a another utility for the door. On long trips, if i have things are storage in a creative locations, I would use the door to retrieve what I need instead of pulling the car over. Of course a passenger will do that, not the driver. Thanks for a new idea.

My 2017 GLC 300 makes me disappointed on 360' camera ( when sunshine on one side the another side in shadow will be dark black) & the garage door opener is very weak, I have to buy a portable one to open the garage door. Did the GLE350 have the same problem ?

Ahmad Kakaji unlike other cars in this rank (BMW X5 and Q7) the GLE does not have a third row option. If you want it you need the GLS.
