The Ω2W/Ω4W button is not to eliminate the resistance of the test leads. Ω2W is for a resistance measurement using 2 wires (most common). Ω4W is for a 4 wire resistance measurement, which uses the hisense and losense ports and connects the resistor across all 4 wires, which is more accurate but more complicated than the 2 wire measurement.

Luke Eyles Thx for your reaction. According several internet pages it is done to eliminate the resistance of the test leads. Specialy with low resistance the current Flowing true the leads wil give a drop of voltage.

I am considering grabbing one of these for a bench meter. All i plan to use it for is everyday measurements i want done with a bit more accuracy and some kelvin 4 wire resistance measurements. It looks very nice.

In comparison to ANY handheld, this multimeter shows EXACTLY HALF the resistance value measured in circuit. Why is that ?

Nice video 👍. Please could you help me? I'm facing an issue with my siglent. Have you already try to do an AC voltage measurements with very low amplitude voltage values? As example with 1mVrms @ 1kHz my siglent gives a wrong values... I have 1.4mV of amplitude in the scope... Thanks, Hugo.

You will have a 1.41mV amplitude (peak) on your scope when measuring a sinewave with 1V RMS. A sinewave has a peak at SQR(2) * Urms. So probably your measurements are absolutely correct. If in doubt, try to compare with a DC-voltage. AC-measurements are more complicated than pure DC, as in addition to waveform (which can be solved mathematically via fourier-transformations), you will have a reactive component as well as a resitive component. And the reactive component is the sum of inductive and capacitive reactance. Cables, connectors etc. will have an influence of those parameters.

Thanks@@erikas6874 in fact the device has a limitation! In the specs tables you have a maximum error of 100uV, 10digits. However, in small letters you have a foot note that says to add an error of 500uV when the voltage is less than 5% of the range, 500mV -> 25mV. This means that the device has 600uV of error, 60digits! Not 100uV. This with the leads shorted. The worst is that you cannot use relative measurements. Thanks for the feedback 😃👍

Tried it, feed in a 1 kHz ,030 volt signaal. Both scope and siglent shows 10,35 mv rms. Are you sure your scope is showing rms voltage ??

Thanks Mario, the issue was already confirmed by Siglent, for measurements below 5% of the range, 25mV, you need to add an extra error of 0.1% of the range, i.e. 500uV. The total error will be 600uV. You have this spec in a foot note with small letters... You can check manual, is there. The 5% spec is common in top devices but not for ranges of 500mV. Many thanks for your help 😃👍
