Mastodon "digesta" or, ahem, stomach contents, from a 14,500 year old archaeological site and a 34,000+ year old paleontological site in the Aucilla River of north Florida are discussed. 61 species of plants eaten by mastodons were identified at Page/Ladson from right when people had arrived there too. About 15 are native species still used regularly today. So yes.... you do kinda eat like a mastodon, well at least a little bit.
