Can i just state how much I appreciate the hard work and diligence Sarah puts into all of her videos? You can tell from her equipment, her video styles, how everything she does has a purpose and a message, whether it be filming a tour like this and offering advice for any new youtubers, to skincare videos where she links everything she uses and explains the foundations of good skincare without any bells or whistles. Even in her drugstore makeup and skincare videos/challenges she puts the prices of everything and calculates all of the totals herself. It really shows her passion and dedication to making quality content. Love you Sarah, rock on!

something i've always admired so much about you is your transparency. i know it's just lighting, but it's so nice to hear about how painstakingly hard you worked to get your lighting to end up the way it is, and you're openly sharing both the actual setup and the story behind it for everyone to see. it seems like such a small thing, but people are weirdly secretive about things like this and just refuse to share anything, so the fact that you're always giving tips and sharing information is so refreshing and lovely! :3

tips for mics and echos! i currently use a blue snowball mic which is incredibly affordable as a mic (around $50-$60 or maybe less than that) but i would recommend getting a blue yeti (around $100), which has a much better stand and allows you to change the pickup settings for audio which is really nice. as for echo, sound proofing can be extremely affordable such as using foam boards or like someone else said using some quilts or blankets. anything that would dampen the sound. hope this helps! :)

this is literally the best video. I'm so glad you actually have a small room. I film from my bedroom and its super small. All the other videos I've seen say "small" but the rooms are so much larger than mine and its not at all helpful.. Thank you for this!

This is such a cool video. I was always wondering how you'd put the lights and the whole filming process. Thanks for showing us all that! I do music video shots and have played around with soft boxes etc. and can confirm they're taking a lot of space. You've made such good use of such small space. About the mic situation: eliminating noise can be also done with post editing (I find Adobe Premiere Pro is a very good editing software), however eliminating voice reverb can also be done (pre-production) if you use e.g. soft soundproof foam to attach it e.g. at the corner of the walls.

I’ve been doing that recently lmaooo. I look at people’s eyes to see where the light is coming from so when she mentioned that I laughed so loud! I started my KZbin channel last year and it’s been hard for me to be consistent cause I’m never happy with the lighting or how it makes me look on camera. I’m still experimenting now with lighting and I love the the tips she’s giving here

Putting fabrics and noise absorbing material around will reduce echo, but if you still want a mic i would get a shotgun mic, they are directional meaning that they generally only pick up the noise in the direction the mic is pointing, opposed to other mics which capture sounds coming from all around which causes reverb. At university for my film classes we usually use rode Shotgun mics but they hella $$$. but I prefer using them over any other type of microphone when capturing voice especially for interviews, etc!

If you wanna stop the eco put something (white!) on the walls. (One or two walls should be enough) Egg cartons, wool blankets,.... it just has to be textured to ,eat‘ the eco. Cheapest version and no micro would cancel out an eco I think 🤔

just watched trixies video with her youtube setup, and her only real audio "fix" was a fuzzy carpet, she said it helps a lot. and of course a mic cover (fuzzy type) to cut out aircon noise and excessive breathing (something i didnt realize i did until i filmed myself one day, lmfao) so maybe that could help if you dont want to put a lot of stuff on the walls! thank you for the light recs! im super curious of that lamp, wondering if you still use it? i have a small space as well and whenever i see the light boxes i just cry because theyre so bulky and in the way of everything.
