I dispute that the only income you should count in your budget is sales. Income can come from many sources, and they're all valid. If your business runs on anything from investment dividends to government grants, that's still a business income and you can use it in your budget.

Example, I get excited when I learn about new technology and I want to purchase and sometimes I do. But I notice that it cuts into my profit.
