Fun little shoot with some little bores: a single-shot folding Beretta FS-1 24ga and an 870 Wingmaster in 410. The 24g shells have less shot than a typical 28 gauge load are about the equivalent of a 3" .410 shell. Due to the gun I think I shot the 410 better which makes a great weapon on pest pigeons and Eurasian Collared doves.

I think this may be the only video on KZbin featuring a 24 gauge shotgun being fired or a 24 gauge shotgun at all.

It's a strange gauge for sure, even more so than the 32ga (IMO). I bet there are a few videos out there though in Italian or French!

Nice. I just got an iver Johnson champion in 24 gauge about 3 weeks ago, and a stevens 32 gauge about 2 months back. I also have an h&r 32 gauge with a rifled barrel I use for slugs I cast.

Have you shot or patterned the 24 yet? I did a 40 yard pattern with this #6 shot and it looked real good! (it has a fixed full choke)

@@pc8649 Mines a full choke too and yes at 50 yards with some #4 shot and #4 buck it does very well.

Nice vid! Where are you finding the 24 gauge guns to buy? I have been looking around and can't find any. I really would like one in a pump, but would settle for the single shot. I'm interested in the 32 gauge as well.

I got lucky on an online auction a while back and snagged it. They are very rare to come by, just like the 32ga. Either gauge would be cool in a pump, but I’ve never seen one before and don’t know that such a thing exists. There are some European makers that can build you one in O/U or SxS. That’s how I am getting a 32ga.

@@pc8649 Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to get a shotgun in each gauge I can find. I guess I need to stick with the available gauges first. I still need a 28 gauge and a 0.410, preferably in a pump. I also want a Remington Garden Gun, which was made for .22 shotshells (non-rifled barrel). I think they made a version in .22 magnum (shotshells) as well.

I've got 870s in both 28 and .410, they are a lot of fun!

@@pc8649 That's what I would like to find--870s for both. I also wanted to let you know that MidwayUSA has the Federal Game loads in 8 shot for the 24 gauge right now for $10.53 a 25 round box. They also have the 32 gauge Federals in 8 shot for $9.25 a box. I ordered a couple boxes of each so that I would have something to shoot if I ever located one of these guns.

@@thegreenlaser215 there’s a Fausti made American Arms Silver II o/u 24 gauge just like the one I have on Gunbroker right now for $1500. I personally wouldn’t pay that for it they’re mediocre guns at best, I have 3 of them 20,24,and 32 gauge so I know from experience but if you want one bad enough it’s there anyway. Unless a person has money to blow and just wants something different to play around with I would recommend just getting a new 28 gauge, they’ve got the 24 and 32 covered, they’re available in the 870 and many many other types and there’s a large variety of factory ammo. You won’t find an 870 in 24 or 32 they never made them.

I’ve got a couple 24s and a couple 32s. I have O/U Fausti Silver IIs in both, a SIACE SxS 24 hammer gun and a SS 32. They’re fun to play around with but the available factory ammo sucks and there’s no variety to chose from. I’ve got a couple 28s and with all the different loads available for them they cover both the 24 and 32 which is why nobody bothers with them anymore. I do see more use for the 32 though, no recoil like a 410 but still bigger and patterns better.

You might have the biggest collection of 24/32s out there! Who is the maker of your 32ga SXS? I almost bought a hammerless Siace once (in 20ga), a 24ga hammer gun might as well be a unicorn. I agree about the utility of the 24ga (it doesn't really have any), but I do find the 32ga option intriguing for all the reasons you state. If you own either gauge you really have to reload, even though wad selection really sucks.

@@pc8649 I don’t have a SxS 32 I have the Fausti O/U and a single shot (SS) H&R. 24s and 32s are for sale all the time, they really aren’t that hard to come by. I talked to Barbara Fausti a few months ago and she said with a 7 month wait while it was made, they’d make me a new Caledon in 32 gauge for $3300 and import it through Fausti USA, I was gonna buy one for my wife she likes mine so much but she didn’t want to spend the money no more than she’d use it. But yes the siace 24 hammer gun is nice, I don’t bring it out very often.

@@duckodb_4389 They do come up for sale fairly regularly, but they are always single-shots or high-end double guns. That said, I've had an order through Fausti for a 32ga SxS going on almost a year. Looking forward to getting it soon!
