A fantastic idea for all who need a roof over their heads. The porch is a lovely outside space to relax, socialise and put those dirty or wet shoes. The Government should be looking at ways to make cheap social housing again for the homeless and those on low incomes who have no chance of ever getting their own home.

Hate to say - city of San Fran destroyed a FEW of these. A country music person designed a built a number of these for about $1500 a piece lockable with a light and a window. they were large but it was a place to get out of the weather and sleep and put their stuff. GONE. The city dragged them off. Painted and all. duckduckgo it and look.

My 29 year old son is living in such a similar tiny wooden house of 28 square meters, he built 7 years ago in our garden. He did everything on his own. Last year his girl friend moved in with her cat and hey, they are happy...so far. They will marry next year in July. When they need more space (having kids) they move out, I will move in. Can't wait to give up my living space about 160 qm for the both of them.

@solasistim336 3 жыл бұрын
@@elsaboyd6063 no it wasn´t difficult at all. Just took 2 months to get the building permit and he needed the signature of an architect. From the existing house connections, power cables and water pipes were simply laid underground to under the floor slab and led up there, that was around 25 meters. The hot water is supplied with the help of a flow heater. An oven serves as heating.

You could also just get rid of that side night table and pull the bed out a little. You can add a floating shelf on the back wall that could function as a night table. Or place the bed on the opposite side and the dresser under the window and the closet in the nook where the bed is. The mirror can just go on the wall where the closet is now along with some wall shelf’s for extra storage.

Many people want bigger houses for the sake of security and safety. You surely can't build a place like the above in tornado valley or in flood rich plains or coastal areas where hurricanes are a common theme. Plus small houses like that can leave you vulnerable to break ins with little to no defensive measures.
@dreday4177

You can build a small house like this in tornado alley with pre cast or tilt up concrete which i hear is even more cost effective and energy efficient. As for security, fence off house with a couple pit bulls, house alarm and a shotgun.

I use to live in a 7 bedroom 6,000 square foot mansion up in the hills with a pool. Even if ur rich, you need atleast 1 full time housekeeper to maintain the house clean unless you want to break ur back doing it urself. All the utilities, landscaping, pool cleaning, property taxes go thru the roof. Its a money pit. Its a waste of space and ur bleeding lots of money for something thats not making u so happy anymore cause anything gets old after 6 months.

I am living in a 3 bedroom house at the moment and can afford to get something much bigger but I chose not to because it means absolutely nothing to me. My car is almost 20 years old and I chose not to buy a new one even though I can more than afford to buy a new top of the range but that is not appealing to me. For me, simplicity is the best way to live. I dont have a family so that makes it even better.

Agree on the plumbing. It's all over the place. Flip it to the right so all plumbing on the right side. And that 'hallway' is wasted space. Move the dining area to the front right corner and add a window there. For furniture, nix the couch and go 2 chairs, ottoman and small table. Credenza under the TV for storage. Drop leaf table for dining, and pop the leaves up when you need them, and down when you don't.

It's a nice design. Since it's for a single person, it seems like the entryway to the bedroom/bathroom could be freed up by having a recessed sliding door instead. Reasonably spaced for seniors and low income/homeless. By moving the kitchen to the same wall as the bath and moving the commode to the sink wall as well as the shower plumbing the possibility for a duplex is greatly enhanced as well as cutting plumbing costs. True it lacks the 1/2 bath-Utility room but overall hits most of the buttons here at 4Fathoms Designs....With the kitchen move we would have the sink next to the bathroom wall for closer plumbing and the stove on the entry wall for venting...I see the bedroom needs a French Door out the side wall replacing the window for egress and function. Other than those small changes the footprint is functional. For costs, building it as a duplex will allow the owner to rent the other side and pay for it all over a 12 year contract and then have income forever...

This is so ideal for an old person or couple. Has everything you need and not too big to keep clean. Build a little senior citizens village on a piece of land with a group of these adorable houses. Would love to see this for our old people in South Africa.

This is considered a big space when compared to what alot of people have in London. My 'flat' consists of just two rooms just like this, and a tiny bathroom with no window. Me, my partner and our two children live here.

Perfect size for a single person with a dog. Me!! All it needs is solar on top of the roof! These sizes of houses should be build in every town!!!

Should be...But as they quit building land a while back, scattering them along every alley in the USA is probably the only way...Building SIPS from Hemp in the near future would make this practical as well as affordable for communities with Government Grants like the old HUD and Farm Home Loans whose disappearance started with "Trickle Down" durreing the Senile Puppet Reagan administration..So no, it will never happen...

@@mattbuckley7083 Still designing houses for low income and senors Matt. We miss your smiling face. Got a new plan off he old "J Wall" with a center wall plumbing fix that puts Utility, Kitchen, and Master Bath as well as powder room all on the same wall in 400 sq ft. I really like the duel access Lenin/ laundry closet idea and am retro fitting to several of my other floor plans.

Approximate cost to build in US? If affordable enough, it could help so many homeless vets.

It could help a lot of people, including elderly who can no longer afford their apts. or homes on fixed incomes and if land could be gotten for it, (probably the most expensive thing). It would certainly be better than living in substandard housing because you can't afford to live elsewhere.

С точки зрения расположения коммуникаций кухня-туалет....располагать по диагонали нецелесообразно. Проще...когда все через стену по одному стояку идет. Для России нп подходит. Мы шубы носим...у нас зима. Нужна прихожая.
