Nice open-air setup. For me, open-air racks would not work because I want the physical security. My home lab is in the basement so I put them in a 42U rack cabinet and then locked it because when my friends and their kids visit us, I know my equipment will be safe.

I have vivo's 25u rack and it's pretty good for the price, I was expecting it to be kind of jank but it honestly isn't. Got some rackstuds to try out when I got it and also fell in love with those. Now I just need the chassis for my new proxmox server to get it racked and start saving up to rebuild my NAS later this year!

Yeah same thoughts here that’s why at the tail end of the video I decided to stand on it. Well if you stick around I’ve got a new NAS server chassis that may be something you might be looking for. But it’s going to be a few weeks.

The new setup looks good! I know the hard work is already done, but I can't recommend the use of RackStuds over standard cage nuts enough, at least for the stuff that's not super heavy (though I think they are technically rated for a high amount of weight). I have my PDUs, rack shelves, switch, etc. all mounted using RackStuds and only my servers themselves are mounted using the provided hardware/arms and cage nuts.

Vivo! Yep, I have put 8 of their 25U racks into businesses as StarTech just got too expensive and the Vivo's are near the same thing for almost half the cost.

Looks identical to the star tech open racks. I started with StarTechs 15u open rack, then the 25u and now the 32u enclosed cabinet.

It’s pretty similar but the bottom crossbars (the non adjustable ones) are definitely different. Also this is much cheaper but the quality is very similar. Wouldn’t be surprised if they are sourced from the same plant. Nice upgrades! Next up 42u?

@@SPXLabs No, 32u is my limit. My original plan was to go with a 25u enclosed since I had plenty of leftover space but it was back ordered so I went with the 32u instead. Much more room then I’ll ever need and my wife acceptance rating has dropped significantly but she seems to be getting over it well

Yes but startech has gotten expensive. Also startech ignored my email when reaching out to them to see if they would assist. Also also, I genuinely wanted to try Vivo out because if it’s good and inexpensive, the people need to know!

It’s a Husky workbench. They are pretty expensive these days as the internet has caught on to them. It is adjustable in height and I believe today you can get electric versions.
