The leitmotifs of Heartache and His Theme were used very well in this song, reflecting on how much Asgore misses his family, and has had to cope without them. All alone, he awaits the day when daylight can be seen again, the day when Toriel will accept him again for who he is inside.

the old version was always one of my favorite of your Undertale covers. I actually used it to keep calm when i was getting a minor surgery done. This is so good and i love it even more than your old one becuase of the asgore motifs. Fantastic. also the slightly off-key asgore motif? Damn that felt so Pained.

When this song played during the concert, I felt my Heart quiver. Ever since I first played the True Pacifist Route, I felt my outlook on life and love rise and, overtime...fall. The years that went by after playing it, I experienced a kind of heartache that, ironically would be explored in Deltarune... And this is to say...I nearly forgotten that warm feeling in my Soul. I nearly forgotten what it felt like to have Love. I had already been brought to tears by the use of She's Playing Piano at the end of Spear of Justice...but when this played... I felt like that warm feeling was calling out to me...but from far away. I couldn't help but cry.

Asgor wasn't enemy from nature. He wasn't guy that wanted to kill. He was a guy, with really sad backstory, full of moments in which life wanted to destroy him. He lost war against humans, had to take his people to underground to never see daylight again, he lost 2 children, wife left him, he was alone. He didn't wanted to kill. His people did, and he fought only because of pressure that his people made on him. He doesn't want to kill you, but he has to. He propably even wants you to kill him. He wanted to end this cycle of misery.
